Just watched him play on CBSSports vs. a very talented Miller Grove team, lead by one time target Tony Parker. They won by 3 in OT, unfortunately my dvr stopped with a minute left in the 4th, but it was enough to be impressed by his game. He ended up with 34 and 11, I think he had 26 when I was cut out.

We are getting a good one, he has great slashing ability and gets to the line a lot. He also does look to be about 6-5 (he is listed anywhere between 6-2 and 6-6). He hit 2-5 from three from what I saw and has a strange stroke but it works. Also was 10-11 from the line. He took some horrible shots but that is very understandable and did make a very high percentage of his looks.

Saw most of the 2nd half and OT ->
Omar scored just about every way possible - drives, put-backs, couple of 3's, some FT's...

Here's an interview of Omar back in August talking about UConn staff and KO. Kinda old but he seems like a really good kid.

He might be, but you have to question the character of someone who's a Tyler Perry fan.

I would like to see a game between Omar and Thabeet. A game of chess that is.

Omar is 6'3 max 6'4 in shoes. You are right about his jumper though as he has a funky stroke and doesn't get off the ground much or hold the ball above his head to shoot but it goes in for him. We will see how he does for us next year but i am not overly impressed with Omar's game. He will be a solid player for us.

Basketball is usually played with shoes. I don't know how tall he is exactly but I can tell you he looked at least 2 inches taller than his teammate Lewis who is listed everywhere at 6'3 and just a tad shorter than MG's 6'6 forward. It is very possible that all the height as are off.

BTW, glad to see that you aren't impressed with Omar. Your the guy who thinks Shabazz sucks and Rudy is the most talented player in the league, right? Hopefully your track record continues with Omar.

huskymagic isn't a UConn fan. He's a Rutgers student - same guy that tried to win an argument by saying he makes more money than you. Not sure why he continues the charade, but apparently, it is important to him.

In fairness, I kind of understand what he's saying - Calhoun isn't overwhelmingly athletic, so he's not someone who's likely to blow you away the first time you see him play.

I've seen about six games of his, and (not to be cliche) he's one of those guys who you need to see a lot of to realize how good he is. He has a diverse offensive game, a good handle, and he rebounds it well for a guard. What impresses me most about him is his passing ability, and while he may not be the pure scorer Lamb is, I think he has a much better ability to play some occasional point (ala Ben Gordon).

His form is a little weird, but he has a reputation as being a good shooter. He's a money FT shooter, though, and has a knack for getting himself to the line.

Whether he starts or not, I see Calhoun getting ~20 minutes as a frosh.

I'm not sure I understand why you replied to his post about not seeing any of our guards going to the NBA and questioning his eye for talent.

The book on Omar from the gurus who've seen him play...not that I put a great deal of stock in all these so called experts...is he's an excellent scorer, high BBIQ player, hard worker and average athlete. That sounds like a player who will be a very good college player. He's puts up good numbers against all types of competition, so it's not like he does it only against sisters of the weak.

He doesn't seem to be an explosive player, but neither was Lawrence Moten, who is a player that the reminds me a lot of. I think he has more hops than Moten did. His range on his 3 is plenty deep and he has a quick trigger that will translate nicely to the next level. I just saw him knock down a 3 from NBA range and he's already dished out two nice dimes off his dribble penetration early in the 5:00 game on ESPNU.

I have little doubt he'll be able to contribute right away at UConn and should be able to give us some of the scoring production we'll miss when Lamb moves on to the NBA. I don't know what type of defender he'll be. My guess is he'll be a work in progress in that area, like many of the wings that come to UConn.

I really wasnt trying to imply anything. I was serious .. I hope OC got enough game to carve out 20 minutes as a frosh and was hoping the poster had saw him enough to make an accurate assessment. I never lumped Lamb in as a guard anyhow so was tring to figure out how OC fits..Thats all

What are you talking about lol. I am not Marky T or other characters you label me as. How am I not a UConn fan when I comment on the games all the time. A troll would only come around once not all the time like I do only a true fan does that.

Shot kind of reminds me of Gibbs at Pitt, low release, kind of funky but pretty effective. I wouldn't mind if he was a 6'4 Ashton Gibbs.
