Ok, I got my passport updated, and the previously ordered tickets for 6 events are in the mail and should be arriving any day. So I'm excited. I checked the latest ticket availability to see if I wanted to do a little more. I need some help deciding:
I think the cheapest remaining ticket is $109 for the women's semi-final handball match.
Weightlifting starts at $207.
Archery also starts at $207. If William Tell, himself, were competing, sure, I'd pay the money for a shot at history.
There is a little more beach volleyball left for only $240. The semi-finals are $327-$481. The bronze and gold medal matches--two matches for the price of one, sort of--are $403-$890 for men and $890 for women.
The womens' basketball bronze medal game is only $327. The gold medal game, formerly priced at $480, is now sold out. The men's bronze medal game is $663.
The closing ceremony is a little pricey at $1,880 or $2,797. I did that in Atlanta for "only" $212.
I saw the triathlons in Sydney and loved them. They were staged in the harbor and through the adjacent park and part of downtown. Almost all of the venue was open to spectators. In London, only part of the biking course is open to the public. The rest, including the entire running leg (and finish), is inside a roped-off area that requres a ticket. I guess they needed more revenue to offset the low ticket prices for the other events.
Here's an example of the pricing. Opening ceremony: 1,600 British pounds; conversion rate of 1.5523 yields $2,484. Actual U.S. price is $2,979, or a net of nearly $500 on the exchange rate plus their fee. CoSport is making a bundle.
