Coach Ollie was in attendance this evening to watch 2014 Center Pascal Chukwu of Fairfield Prep as they beat ND-West Haven. Pascal Chukwu is 7'2" might I add.

Dig this...

Tweet: Joe Morelli@nhrJoeMorelli
ND athletic director Tom Marcucci offered to let Kevin Ollie in for free. Ollie paid his way in. #ctbb

Interesting about Marcucci. He was one of the people critical of Edsall and Edsall's relative apathy toward Connecticut football.

2014 seems loaded, it's imperative Ollie puts the right emphasis on guys he wants, & then gets the commits that form a complete team. Stock & Reload!

I saw Pascal play as a frosh at Trinity. He struggled in a JV game.
Two years later, I want this kid!

He's more polished and athletic. Has nice touch from 15 feet in.
Good timing on his shot-blocking and rebounding.
Needs work on his passing. Sometimes will miss wildly on a wide open teammate.
Still learning the game. Has to put on some muscle. But seems like a good mature kid with amazing upside.

There arent many 7-footers with his upside who live a stones throw from Storrs.
I hope Ollie and staff put the full-court pressure on for him. He's a difference maker.
I want this kid!

Crazy, we could potentially add as many players as we did in 2010 (7) even though that might be a bit much. 5 isn't a bad number though. I'd take him along with Amida Brimah.

Could I say that we might have another Thabeet on our hands?

I can't endure a Thabeethian freshman season. I'll go mad.

Emeka Okafor's full first name was Chukwuemeka. And he was good with math, so he probably studied some Pascal.

Sounds like he could help.

He appears to be a tad bit more athletic than Thabeet. But as for Hasheem's Freshman season, I'd take his stat line for Pascal.. 6.2 points, 6.4 rebounds & 3.8 blocks...

The stat line wasn't bad, but he wasn't very easy on the eyes. If he was a figure skater, he'd have been bowing his head in that "kiss and cry" booth a lot while waiting for his scores.

I don't believe that Thabeet lacked any athleticism, especially for a seven footer. His problem (which Chukwu may also experience) was his ability to translate this to a sport that he still was learning.

PC spent his first couple of years at the same HS as my son. I saw this kid (in passing, not on a basketball court) a few times. he is legitimately very tall (seven foot without question) but as of eighteen months ago needed to add at least 75 lbs to have the bulk HT had as a freshman (which was far from ideal). This kid could turn into something (you cannot coach height) but he has to be viewed as a project.

If we somehow manage to land Okafor in the same class, Chukwu is then instantly given time to grow. You can never have too many bit guys, projects or not.

Just watched Chukwu shooting a couple 3 pointers during a game. He had good form on his shot. Don't think I ever saw Thabeet do that early in his career.

Can you possibly imagine JC's reaction if Thabeet if he shot a 3 pointer
But I'd take Thabeet as raw as he was a Frosh over TO any day.
