That's on him. He needs to do a much better job of motivating his team at the eight minute mark. It was a problem against Michigan State, NC State and again today. You Pom-Pom wavers keep making excuses for him.

I think he needs to get a Jim Calhoun ceremonial baptism into coaching: an technical foul followed by a kick of the scorers table, followed by an ejection.

This is a silly post.

Making fun of another argument being over-critical of him not getting the team ready at the start. My over-riding point is that things don't always go the way you want over 40 minutes, especially when your team isn't all that complete. Sometimes, it is a slow start, or a bad finish, or a bad start to second half. This team is prone to long droughts and wavering energy levels on the offensive end, so we will have some times we don't look good over the course of the game. It isn't a sign of Ollie's worthiness as a coach in his rookie season if we have some uneven performances.

Didn't make it clear I was being facetious.

Good catch. Earlier this season he was a bit weak coming off the 12:00 1st half TO. To his credit, KO tightened up that part of his game but his 8-minute motivation suffered as a result. I'm not worried, he's displayed a strong learning curve in this area and I'm sure he will adjust accordingly.

Yeah, that post was not like you, so I thought (was hoping) it was sarcasm.

........But I wasn't sure.............

He didn't have us ready for a few minute portion in the second half when seton hall went up 7 as well. We should be romancing Shaka Smart.

Let's see: +15 to -3 lead after the 8 min mark. Makes sense to me. The entire section that we sat in was counting the decline.

There was also an element of baiting to it. I was curious to see if certain people would be here after a win. I'm not drawing any conclusions from it - people are dealing with a lot of snow right now, and some folks like to do other things with their weekends. So it was perhaps a bit immature of me. But, hell, it is the Internet.

Exactly. Not many coaches in America force their players to play without shoes after the 8 minute timeout. Puts UConn at a disadvantage.

Well you hooked me. I was about to hit the ignore button. Now, I'll just have to settle for calling you a dick - all in good fun, of course... maybe.

I figured as much. You're a master.

Funny thing is I know we disagreed on something recently, but I can't remember what it was. I respect a good sports messageboard tug'o'war (and I lose a bunch), and often end up agreeing with some people in one debate and then end up on opposite sides in the next.

The only type that gets me is the fan - and they are everywhere in college and pro - who argues a negative (we'll never win with Taliek, for example) and then wants so very, very badly to be right, so much so that they don't even enjoy their team's success. It was pre-Internet, but you can't be any more wrong than I was in 1993, when we lost to Jackson State and I insisted to anyone who would listen that Calhoun had to go. I'm lucky that my fish couldn't do anything about it (and very, very happy I was wrong).
