Do something out there - take a charge, block a shot, perhaps an offensive rebound. Its like 4 on 5 when he is out there

He needs to step up his conditioning. He looks physically winded after the first 2 minutes of every half.

He actually played until he got winded. It looked like he was fighting a bug.

He gained to much weight over the summer. The bulk hasn't helped him. He needs to shed 8-12 pounds. He wanted to bulk up to help with banging with the bigs of the BE. Obviously backfired. I'll be thrilled if he can average 8 and 8 next year. Wishful thinking I guess.

I think you're right about the weight. He's become ridiculously slow. Hopefully he'll be able to contribute more next year. For now I'm ok with Nolan getting as much run as foul trouble permits.

I see the same thing....he put on some weight and now he seems glued to the floor and slower laterally.

Look -TO is a good person and a fairly average D 1 basketball player. That is not going to change from game to game- sometimes he will step up but most of the time he will continue to be TO.

If fans want to post a thread after every game reminded us that we are undermanned and that we are relying on TO for serious minutes- (when in the past he might play 2-5 minutes a game)- please feel free to do so. I just think it is amazing that we are approaching 20 wins and our entire front court got drafted or left the program.

Watched the 2011 'Cuse BET game a week or so ago and he was A LOT faster as a frosh. Despite his goofy haircut. I agree with Scot, what do you expect from him?

I think most of it is not bashing Olander but frustration and wanting him to do well. Ironic he had his best game of the year against Notre Dame, a team his style fits more with...got a championship with UConn though (and maybe 2).

grabbed 5 boards, made his freethrows, and got a couple baskets in a double digit victory....not bad by any means. Not eye popping, but Olander did his job tonight, no one should be complaining

Agreed. He should get on a full speed treadmill the second march comes and get off it in september, the bulking (which was probably ordered/advised by the coaching staff) has definitely slowed him

How can you get winded so quickly after 4.5 months of Ollie practices? Almost looks like he has asthma or something? Agree he put on lots of weight over the summer - doesn't appear to be weight from weight lifting.

TO wasn't awful, played physical and did a few good things........he has no clue on help defense still which amazes me at this point. He could've had 4-5 more boards if he gets his hands up quicker he never has his hands ready, how many rebounds go right past his face? But all in all some good moments and that's okay!

I'm not sure if its he's winded or the opposing players' quickness and agility make him looks so. Depaul and other teams have some horses, making O look mule-ish.

He can't change the fact he's a 6'8" white kid who isn't a superior athlete. He is gangly when running overusing too many body parts but these things are hard to change at 21 years old.........he is in fine shape I am sure and gives it everything he can muster up when he gets out there....for that we should all respect his efforts!!! No matter what anyone may think he is a art of this very special year!!

I am as exasperated as anyone re: Tyler. An earlier comment described him as "an average D1 player"; however, imo, he would be factored in at the lowest end of the range used to create the average. What is most perplexing, since I have always had tremendous respect for the abilities of both JC and his staff to identify and develop potential, is what they saw in Tyler to begin with. Unless he is left wide open for short jump shots, he has, literally, no game at all. He doesn't even recognize good positioning for rebounding when the ball is in the hands of either our's or our opponent's typical shooters. The competition he faced in high school must have been horrible to magnify his talent to the point where he became recruitable(?sp.). This is no knock on the kid personally; but he just doesn't have elite level D1 talent(even as the 3rd guy off the bench at his position).

That's the extreme and a little off as well as harsh. Whether you like it or not his 16 and 9 against a Div 1 team Notre Dame (perfect match up for him but nonetheless) happened and he led us to win.......therefore he is not as bad as your criticisms of his ability.

I think it was an issue of a local kid who had HS talent and badly wanted to play for UConn. Unfortunately there were defections at the PF/C spots thrusting him into major starting minutes. I'm not certain he was expected to start before his senior year. Even today I like the signing partly because I always liked UConn teams that have at least one in-state HS kid on the roster, irrespective of talent. Its not like he's not trying. He'll be fine next year and contributing more, just as I expected.

He's family in the same sentence as Ollie, but with more-so having state roots. I hope fans cut him some slack because if we are expecting a Dave Cowen's it ain't happening. At least he's living his dream, and good for him.

Obviously we are winning with him, including a Championship so he is not killing the team. Maybe we should just cheer him on.

GO T.O.!

Good observation. He has looked slow this year.

As others have noted, not everyone you recruit is intended to be a star. He's been forced into a role that is beyond his abilities. I feel for him.
