>>Throughout his senior year, he attracted attention from a few northeast FCS-level programs. Shortly after his senior season ended, former UConn offensive line coach Mike Foley made a stop at Governor’s Academy to check out a handful of players. Coach O’Leary mentioned one more player that he needed to see. Foley took one look at Peart and told the coaches “that’s who we want.” Two weeks later, Peart received an offer from UConn – his lone FBS-level scholarship offer.<<
>>At a verified 6-7 and 302 pounds with 35 1/4-inch arm length, Peart certainly passes the eye test. He has quick, powerful hands to get inside and control defenders, stonewalling their pass rush. Peart has only average lateral movements, but he does enough to carry rushers past the pocket. Now a senior, his awareness looks night-and-day improved from his junior tape, deciphering different pressures and working well in tandem.
Peart will roll his hips into contact to generate movement in the run game. However, his upright stance in pass protection leads to issues and he must improve his knee bend to strengthen his base vs. power rushers. He eagerly gets his hands involved, but his punch timing requires refinement. While the coaches say he has improved his vocal leadership as a senior captain, he would benefit by adding more of a nasty streak to finish plays.<<
