He has gotten so many starts you forget how new to the game he is. With his physical gifts and size, if he makes a leap, he could become a very dominating player.
With his final season in Storrs about to begin, Knappe did have a moment of reflection.
"It means a ton," he said of his time at UConn. "I've been here a fifth of my life now. It's a place I take great-great pride in. Every time I see someone wearing something with UConn on, I pump my chest out a little bit extra. Everywhere you go, you see someone with some kind of UConn stuff, even where I'm from, but that's mainly because I've given it to them. When you travel around or go anywhere, not only in Connecticut, but all over the country, even in airports, you see it. This is my school and I take great pride in that."
