Well deserved and well earned. The Greatest Duo in WCBB will be honored tonite for their achievements that when looking back on their career looked impossible. They did what seemed impossible which goes to show us and is a lesson in persistence. Work hard for a long time, never give up, trust in yourself and maybe just maybe you can achieve you dreams. Remember Babe Ruth struck out over 2,000 times but is remembered for his 714 home runs. Thomas Edison failed 9,999 times to discover electricity but on the 10,000 time discovered electricity. How did they do it? They just kept on doing it and doing it and doing it and doing it and doing it and doing it until they accomplished what they set out to do. There is an ole saying that I use and live by. People dont care how much you know until they know how much you care. I believe this is one of the reasons why Geno and CD have achieved what they have achieved. They put people first. They had a dream and created an opportunity for young women who believed in them. They became successful because they put those women first. They did it with commitment, disciple, and belief. They have built a dynasty by overcoming obstacles. They are the face of WCBB. They have built young ladies into successful women. They did it the right way. They are known world wide and have put UConn WBB on the map. To do what they have done is not easy and to have done it this long only speaks for their dedication and commitment to their profession, to their players and to UConn. They are true legends that are looked up to and respected by their peers. UConn is still the pinnacle that other programs look up to and still feared by their opponents. The records and accomplishments they've achieved are second to none. I remember an ole story about Disney World being completed and Walt Disney had already passed before it was completed. Walt Disneys son was speaking at the grand opening and one person in the audience said....Its do bad Walt wasnt here to see this...and Walt Disneys son said...excuse me sir, if my father hadnt seen it first we wouldnt be here today. That speaks volumes of successful people. Youve got to see it first, have a dream, make a total commitment, before you can make it happen. They did it by making a total commitment and looking at the obstacles as opportunities. Nothing more proven then the past few years with the injuries that UConn faced and being able to take that team to the Final 4 which in my opinion is an unbelievable accomplishment. Many people wouldve quit. Many people wouldve make excuses. Not them. They overcame these setbacks, by turning those obstacles into opportunities and found a way to win inspite of what was going on around them. Many coaches have come to Geno for help and he welcomed them. Many coaches have tried to duplicate what Geno and CD have built. Many coaches have won NCs and had good seasons and some even a few good seasons, but none have been able to duplicate the longevity that these two legends have built. Tonite is a nite to honor the greatest duo in sports. They are Mr and Mrs Womens Basketball.
