Duke immediately called a timeout, desperate to put the brakes on the Irish run. Diggins turned toward the Blue Devils and cut loose an angry glare, one that Achonwa knows well.

"That look is the finisher," Achonwa said. "It's a no-mercy look. That's a deadly look, for sure. It sends both teams a message. It intimidates the other team, but it also motivates us, to literally finish them, no mercy, finish them, don't let them come back, don't let them think they can come back."

Achonwa and the Irish look forward to seeing Diggins unleash "the look" on Sunday.

"I wear my emotions on my sleeve," Diggins said. "I've always been a player who is very emotional. I think that gets my teammates going. When you have that look, people understand. 'Oh, you better bring it.' It gets my team energized, it gets the fans energized. It gets the coaching staff calm, because they know they can trust me. It gets me fired up. I don't know if I do it for me or my team."

If you read the entire linked article, you will read how important that "taking charges" and thus drawing fouls was in the ND game plan vs. Duke. There was no mention of Achonwa's artistry in flopping, only the clear aim of getting Jones and Williams in foul trouble.

So who will they target to accumulate fouls by charging/flopping on Sunday? My guess is Stef and Stewie. Dramatically.

Kelly needs to instruct Stef & Breanna in the finer arts of making the matador pass...I remember last year Skylar launching herself into Kelly to draw one of her faux fouls, and Kelly stepping adroitly back and watching her fall on the ground...the look of confusion on Skylar's face as she got called for the walk was beyond price...

If you saw the hidden talents video, you know Steph can do "the look" as well.

Right. And the more this becomes a 'public issue,' the more watchful and careful officials will be when making these calls. If everyone is going to be on watch for the tricks, the more their effectiveness drops. Officials should already know the tricks, but if the public also knows what to look for, then officials have to be more vigilant to avoid getting painted as dupes.

So, who makes these things public issues? The media. Particularly TV media. So come on, ESPN, this is a great angle. Get on it. You can't rely on '3 to C' anymore, so let's go with this one.

In the men's game, especially in a playoff environment, this simply wouldn't be allowed. If the refs are going to reward a team for drawing fouls, the other team is going get its money's worth. In other words, if someone wants to go charging into the lane with the purpose of drawing contact and no regard for putting up a make-able shot, clothesline them. Hell, the Bad Boys Pistons would have done it just for going into the lane, period.

Here ya go...a couple of randomly chosen long time ND fans "look" forward to Sunday's game.

I'm gonna make sure I bring extra headbands for this trip. I wanna give more out than ever to my fans this trip!
The ones she wears violate the rules. The NCAA rule require headbands to be no more than two inches wide (but no one seems to enforce this rule). Diggins uses headbands which cover half of her head.

It's not just Achonwa, but she has mastered the flop. As Achonwa mentioned, ND does not have a shot-blocker in the post and its interior defense relies a lot on drawing charges when opposing guards are able to penetrate in the lane. It's a strategy that's worked pretty well. Opposing players need to recognize it and pull up for the short jumper.

I'm not sure there will be a more satisfying victory than when we kick the out of Notre Dame on Sunday. The hacks at ESPN will be weeping.

Pretty dumb rule. I'm fine with not enforcing it.

Does Adidas give her an unending supply (and is this an undisclosed benefit?? )...

Actually this tweet makes me very thankful that I have only heard "our team" refer to "our fans". Not once have I heard a UCWBB player refer to "MY fans."
Our team realizes it is all about the team, not the individual's fame. Thank you, CD, for teaching them well....

I heard her use the term "my fans" in a post game interview. I almost puked. She is very unlikable.
