Sometimes you watch Cincinnati and they look just brilliant - especially on defense. They had some stretches on D in the first half today where their defense was actually a work of art.

But, god.

There’s no argument that their postseason issues are not systemic. They recruit the same kind of player year in and year out and when Cronin’s brain floods in the NCAA tournament, none of them are talented enough to carry the wreckage to a win.

On Cronin...nice to make it every year, but next year, just stay home.

Next season might be his last chance, considering how aggressive their AD seems.

Just finished an expensive arena renovation.

At some point, they have to let Cronin go. It's a really tough call because he has plenty of regular season success, but the dude can't get it done in the tournament.

Let's remember this about Cronin:
-He gets his players ready for the tournament the same way each year;
-His teams perform consistently in the tournament year in and year out;
-He made UConn look better than we really were this year; and
-His brother looks like Johnny Miller without hair.

What do you do with Cronin? At what point will such a good regular season coach find himself on the hot seat?
Heard from a guy connected to the program that people at Cincy are really tired of his act, this is from last year.

Wouldn't shock me if they go in a different direction.

To me, they have benefited most from UConn and Memphis sucking for the most part since 2015. Cincy has decent teams that get inflated from beating up on American teams. Then they go to the tournament and can't handle a team like Iowa who limped to the finish line.

I think as we and Memphis improve, Witchia grows and Houston continues that Cincy will fall more into the middle of the league. They are kind of like a poor man's Pitt back in the day. They will win their 25 games and are always old, but don't have the true game changer (Kemba, Shabazz) to win in the tournament.

It was a home game for Cincinnati. Akin to UConn playing at MSG only Columbus is much closer to Cinci. than MSG is to the center of UConn's base.

Can one really get us “back” to a Final 4/championship level playing in this league?
Sure. Why not? If Gonzaga can do it from the WCC and Nova can do it in the Catholic 7, why not UConn from the AAC? We have more history and prestige than either of those programs. If Butler, VCU, and Wichita State can all reach the Final Four from lesser conferences, there's no reason a good coach and some good recruits can't get us back there.
