UConn's effort was really poor in the first half but Donato and company have made several ridiculous calls all in Marquette's favor...Crowder gets every frigging call!

Guy is climbing all over UConn's back on every rebound. Never a call.

The refs have called two things that have killed UConn's momentum:
1) the offensive "foul" on Roscoe - which was a bit questionnable
2) the technical, which was a good call

UConn is killing itself shooting 5-15 from the foul line and leaving Crowder open from three. The first is just bad shooting the second is piss-poor defense by Olander/Smith/Giffey.

I re-watched the Roscoe foul. He plowed right into him, like a complete moron. Foul, period. Why he needed to run full-steam into a smaller player who was stationary is beyond me.

The Donato call at the end was incredibly awful.

Worst reffing I've seen all year. Crowder keeps taking dives too. Why isn't Blaney on the floor screaming at the refs right now?

They just showed a rebound. He pushed AO out of bounds, and then stood out of bounds and batted the ball back in.

The smaller player was not stationary at all.

So bad calls by the refs:

  1. Called off Boatright 3 on a horrid off the ball call offensive foul (-3 points). The defender was not even close to being set. His feet aren't even on the ground.
  2. Fast break DJO layup that came off a kickball by Crowder (-2 points)
  3. Out of bounds called on Oriakhi when clearly off Crowder (-4 points)
  4. Foul on Napier when Marquette player obviously pushes him to the ground (-2 points)
So bad reffing cost UConn 11 points.

They got a 3 point play after Crowder was standing out of bounds and got a rebound by riding AO out of bounds.

--Crowder out of bounds touched ball, comes in grabs rebound.
--Lamb on drive, hammered on arm, ball flies over backboard, out on UConn.

True but at least the officials showed up. Uconn didn't.

Donato shouldnt be reffing a womans game never mind mens ncaa games. I'd like to say it's from him reffing too many games but we all know even if he reffed one game a week he'd still suck.

Good call Danzz.

Over the years I've noticed some posters with an almost knee-jerk reaction when it comes to criticizing refs for tilting the game. Are they gods to you or something? Somehow can't be criticized?

The Roscoe foul was another total headscratcher, he just wasn't watching where he was running.

I think it is true that, in general, the average fan who lacks basketball intelligence blames the refs when they lose. It's a way cheap way to make it seem like your team is better than the team that it lost to. Most of the time, that's a pathetic excuse.

I won't say that the refs lost the game. But it is a significantly different game with AO and AD not in foul trouble, and that series of terrible calls reversed.
