Who has already played each other three times and nobody wants to see them play a fourth? Perhaps an ex-teammate who has left a team to the transfer portal matchup? A matchup of the two finalists teams from last year, etc., etc. Yes, there are a dozen or more selection criteria guidelines. Almost certainly, after they choose whom they want in the various games, they would be able to go and find a selection criteria that justifies their choice if put to the test.
