In pro basketball when a game is close you see a lot of offensive/defensive substitutions late in the game.

With the current depth Geno may resort to that (besides the hockey style lineup changes mid game).

So who do you go with in the last minute if you need a score or a stop? My (totally subjective and meaningless in real life) choice, if all are healthy:
  • on offense: Paige, Azzi, Caroline, Dorka, and Evina (but maybe CW or AE)
  • on defense: Nika, Chrystin, Liv,

Offense, I would switch Liv for Dorka and Defense, I would add Azzi and Paige.

On offense, if zone, you have your shooters.
On offense, if man, you have your bigs for picks and back cuts.
Defense, everyone is playing outstanding defense, totally interchangeable.

A lot of us have been likening Geno's multi-player substitutions to hockey line changes. I'm reminded of the system instituted at LSU by Paul Dietzel back in 1958. He divided his team into three squads. The starters, including future Heisman winner Billy Cannon, played both O and D, and was called the White Team. When they needed a blow, a fresh 11-member squad of offensive specialists, called the Go Team, would take the field. And then he had his substitute squad of defensive specialists called the Chinese Bandits. So celebrated were the Bandits that they often turned down opportunities to advance to the "first string." Dietzel's rapid subbing among these three squads would run the opposition ragged. It was great entertainment, everybody played, and they went undefeated that year, all the way through the Sugar Bowl.

Post reminds me of Tulane men’s basketball years ago when the coach would substitute five for five during games with subs and their fresh legs being called “the posse.” Fans loved it and responded enthusiastically much like nowadays when walk-ons get some court time.

I also had Aaliyah and Azzi (with Paige a maybe) on defense, but somehow my post got truncated…

It also depends on the opponent matchup, though.
