Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a five-year extension with the New York Giants that makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in football, a source told ESPN's Josina Anderson.

The three-time Pro Bowl receiver can receive a maximum $95 million over the course of the deal with $65 million in guaranteed money. The deal eclipses Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown's $17 million per year average and tops Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans' $55 million in total guarantees.

Beckham is set to make $8.5 million on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. He has been seeking a contract extension for the better part of the past two years and was optimistic in recent weeks that a deal would work itself out. He is now under contract through 2023.

Crossing my fingers that he becomes an adult and does not feel that unsportsmanlike penalties are an expression of style.

Most entertainers are judged on their talent but paid by how much revenue they generate. While people can argue about who is the best player, Beckham's value to the NFL as a whole is obvious.

He is worth the money to the Giants if he is dependable. Big if but Eli needs him in the lineup.

Teams MUST double him (He's too fast and elusive). When they do, that means they can't put put 8 men a box, which will open things up for their rookie RB Saquon Barkley. Teams will often try and take something away from their opponent = the run or the pass, they can't deny both. Kinda like picking your poison. Do you put single coverage on Odell, and let him run wild, and take the chance of getting burned deep, or double him and take your chances with the Giant's running game?

I think the Giants have to exclude him from crossing patterns.
