Geno is 2nd among all coaches in NCAA Tournament winning percentage. Oddly, he will never be #1; Sonja Hogg went 5-0 in one of the very early tournaments, for a 100% winning percentage.

Of course, if they put a requirement for numbers of games coached, he would move into #1.

Hogg was 5-0 at the end of the first, 1982 Tournament. However, she continued to coach and was 4-1 in the 1983 tournament. Over the course of her career, she was 14-3 in the NCAA tournament. Did I misunderstand?

If so, then my source was incorrect. The stat was taken from the Women's Basketball State website. Perhaps her other years were when she was co-head coach with Leon and their source or software credited the record to him?

I'm only as good as my sources.:(

Actually, I was hoping it was true, as I was in the middle of writing a follow up, that it would be an additional oddity that the coach with the best winning percentage all-time coached at the same place as the coach with the best NCAA winning percentage, and was a co-head coach one year.

They were co-head coaches between 1982 and 1985, as far as I can determine. It is possible that someone has decided she deserves credit for 1982, while Barmore deserves credit for 1983 and subsequent. Who know, maybe that's the case, but the NCAA lists her as having an NCAA post-season record of 14 and 3.
See page 104 of the NCAA final Four record book. That itself isn't definitive proof, I've corrected errors in their reports.

Edit: Thanks for mentioning Women's Basketball State, that looks interesting.

The problem with Women's Basketball State has been that it is so automated as to sometimes create an "oops", probably what happened in this case. As you know I track referee's (Pac12 and WNBA'ers this particular year). In'fini Robinson, who works out here doesn't work in their system. Also, someone like Bill Titus gets recorded up to 4 different ways - as Bill, William, Al or Albert and W. - all appearing to be different people, when they are the same. Misspelled box score names create 2 entries as well.

Still, I have generally used the site for RPI and ref info, and I think BeKnighted uses their RPI as well, although I could be wrong.

Interesting timing. I wrote to them a few minutes ago, noting an omission. Then I realized I was looking for Anthony Bozzella, while they have Tony Bozzella. That one's on me, but I'll watch for spelling issues. Especially with players and the recent tendency to include apostrophes in names.
