UConn going to spend some money and get some good coaches? I'm afraid, very afraid of what Coach P will do here.
Your thoughts?

ppl are happy gdl is gone and i am 2, but this is exactly the dumpster fire i have been bitching about. day will either get oc or leave and i think hank will want more to. this is why is we had any balls and any vision house was taken apart week 8 of the season and cleaned at the end of the season. exception to brown, foley and wholley imho.

now look what a crisis we have. no one who is good for these jobs is going to bite becuase temple, bc and cuse will all be filling spots. its truly a sad state of fball at uconn becuase warde has no clue what hes doing. i'm going to go find the brown thread where i predicted 2 more guys will leave soon and bump it becuase i'm only half right until another goes.

I'm more afraid of what Warde WON'T do - like let PP hire whoever he wants without vetting the candidates

Here's an interesting view... granted we aren't OK State and we don't have Uncle T. Boone but does make sense.

Mike Gundy explains when he'll hire an offensive coordinator

Posted by: Chris Vannini on January 2, 2013

Mike Gundy isn't in a rush.

With Todd Monken having left for Southern Miss, Gundy again needs to find a new offensive coordinator. But he's going to take his time.

Gundy himself called the plays in a 58-14 win over Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. He said the Cowboys' offensive system isn't going to change with a new coordinator, but while on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, he explained why he waits for the dust to settle in other places before making a hire.

"I've always waited until the middle or end of January or even gone into February," he said. "What happens with so many job turning over in the NFL now - as of last Monday, I believe 22 percent of the coaches were let go in the NFL - it trickles down into our level now more so than it ever has before, with coordinators moving. It's become such a coaching carousel out there, what I don't want to do is hire a coach that I think can continue with what we're doing on offense, because we're not going to change our style (and then he leaves).

"We've been in this situation now, this will be our fourth time in seven years, so we're not going to change what we do. What I don't want is to hire a quality coach, introduce him, let him become a part of the staff, get him on the road recruiting, and then somebody in the NFL says, 'That's the guy we want' and pay a million dollars and take him from me. I could go find another coach, but the impression is not really what Oklahoma State wants.

"I have to be as patient as possible. To be honest, I've got to wait for some of these NFL guys to make decisions on what they're going to do, and then I'll move after that."

It's a monumental opportunity on hand to fix a lot of what ails us.

I also think there is every opportunity to say to someone interested in the positions- wink, nudge, if P stumbles and breaks a hip next fall, you are on deck.

A good coach won't look at this as a one and done, a good coach will say to himself "Whitmer has talent, I can work with that and make a name for myself"

or they can look at the other schools and say while uconn has a potential good qb and i could blow up name wise in 1 year, its only a 1 year gig if they blow it up nxt year. so how much $ is my family getting for sure? 1 year $. at the others schools i have 2-4 years for sure of saftey, money talks...

Is this really happening, is GDL really gone? This almost feels surreal. I don't feel like I can believe it yet.

We are blowing it up for our looming conference invite. With money and cache we should have a nice staff on hand in the next few weeks :)

Maybe this is exactly what P. needs. Clean out the coaching staff, let in fresh air.

It's almost like we get all the worst parts of firing a bad coach, only we get none of the benefits.

Great call Warde.

How is it possible that for months people are clamoring for a change are now complaining that change is happening. Not to mention that it hasn't even been confirmed yet!

Well if nothing else living with Sybil keeps things interesting!

Could you explain this? We don't have to pay any kind of buy out, we get to bring in a better coach (or at least a different bad coach) so what benefit do we miss out on, and what worst part are we stuck with? The only thing we're missing out on is the satisfaction of knowing he was fired, but you'd have to be a pretty petty person to care about that when you should be celebrating that he's gone.

Holy . You would be bitching so much if Deleone stayed, and now that he is leaving you complain about it?

The whole point is that, we supposedly we didn't fire the head coach because it would have caused "chaos" and yet we have "chaos" anyways. It's sort of ironic. We could have shitcanned Pasqualoni and achieved the same effect and not have to do this again next winter.

where beyond this board is there chaos? And if he brings in the right people who says we'll be doing it again next year?

What "right" people want to come work for him? The right DC fired him. He could probably hire a better OC that's about it.

It wouldn't matter who he hired you would still find cause to complain. I'll take the 50/50 chance they can get it right over what we had. With one half of the wonder twins gone, in the make or break year he will find himself in, PP better get it right because there's no one left to fall on the sword (albeit deserved). And if I happen to be on the wrong half of that 50/50 then I'll worry about that when it comes.

Dude, you can ignore or not respond if you don't like the complaints. This coach is bad for UConn period. Wrong coach, wrong time, and a failure. What should we say? Oh golly gee, maybe Pasqualoni can put together a mediocre season and we can pretend that things are back on track?

This performance is merely a continuation of the moribund ending of his career at Syracuse. It's as if he picked up where he left off there. The sooner he is gone, the better.

I think that we will revamp the O and the D. The D was good, but it took too much risk and we never got any turnovers out of it. Instead they gave up too many big third down plays. We were never able to run effectively so the line schemes have to change. There are 4 or 5 red shirt lineman Samra Levy etc that are going to challenge, so maybe it's time.

Got to find coaches that fit the team I guess.

I think that, at least, Hughes will be the DC and Foley takes more responsibility.

If it isn't, I am pretty sure my head will blow up, so let's go with yes for the time being.

Why so you can feel free to bunch your panties up with every move they make. Last I checked this wasn't titled "ZooCougars Boneyard" so if you don't like the responses to your posts feel free to keep your opinions to your self.
I never said he was a good coach for UConn now did I, in fact I took a shot at him as well. The sooner you get over the fact that he isn't going anywhere the better for us all. I think you would wish for another bad year so you can puff your chest out about how right you were instead of hoping for any possibility of seeing the team be successful.

I actually believe P can be quite successful with the right assistants, much like Weekend at Bernie's.
