They should have done that years ago. Steve Wynn was on board. It got voted down because of the "unsavory element" a casino would attract. Great decision there.
Mmm, you might want to check Atlantic City before you completely poopah that statement.
I'm not at all convinced that casinos work as an urban rivitalization plan. I'm also not convinced that Connecticut needs or can support another casino. For that matter, I'm not entirely convinced that rehabing or rebuilding the XL brings a reasonable ROI, absent UConn moving more games there, and even then I think it is an uphill climb.
That said, I do like the idea of the minor league park. Again, the devil is in the details, but I think that can be a very nice addition to the city.
