I'm convinced Gabby wouldn't have hit such heights elsewhere. Holly would have probably run her off the team.
Every other college coach in America would have viewed her as a guard, which is how she viewed herself when she arrived in Storrs. They would have pushed her to perfect her 3-point shot and nagged her about her ball handling. It would never occur to them to play her as a forward. She might have become a fairly average 5-11 guard who got a few more rebounds than most of her peers.
It took a combination of Geno's basketball genius and Gabby's athletic gifts (and her willingness to trust him as he took her out of her comfort zone) to make Gabby the All-American Forward emerge from the chrysalis.
