Normally, I don't bring stuff like this back to the board, but the DT quotes make it worthwhile.

Edit: The article above just takes quotes from this infinitely better NYTimes article.

The quotes are from a NY Times piece that has already been linked. A sorry excuse for a journalist decides to take quotes from another story and turn it into a tabloid piece fitting NY's biggest rag.

Good job.

Yep, I saw the thread on that article after I linked the Post piece.

Here's a link to BY discussion of the original article.

In your title for the thread I think you left out a capital "S"...

You have just insulted all rags. This poor excuse for a newspaper is only good for canary droppings.

One of the best excerpts from the article:
If Taurasi had not been an athlete, she might have been an entertainer. The magnetic intensity that makes her impossible to overlook on the court transforms in person into a comic knockabout charisma.

I hope she has put a lot of money away. Same with all these athletes working in Europe... They still have a long life when they retire from being an active athlete while in their mid 30's... Another 50 years or so...

Totally understand your point but somehow I am the least bit worried about D. She will have plenty of opportunities when her playing days are over.
With her wit and wisdom she is already a color annalist for ESPN should she retire tomorrow. She's Geno with a bun when it comes to puns.

She needs to watch what she says to the media. They don't need to know every little detail about her life.

Agree, sorta, but OTOH that's just her. The same 'her' with the "magnetic intensity that makes her impossible to overlook on the court transforms in person into a comic knockabout charisma."

Nice job of lifting the most negative parts of the very insightful NYT article and combining them with a 6-year-old DUI reminder for a smear job.

The writing is awful. It's the Post's mission is to be negative, starting with the headline. There's facile negativity in the NY Times piece. In the 4:37 Youtube tape embedded in the story we can listen to what Candace Parker, Sue Bird, and D say. They like being in Yekaterinburg, their city 1200 miles east of Moscow. No reporter would say such a thing.

She has to know that they'll twist things around to be sensational to sell papers etc.

And they couldn't care less if there are any negative repercussions to come out of it. Hope she comes back soon.

Loved the Times article. Thanks. I can't help but think that with her intensity, her ultra competitiveness, bold personality and superstar status that she'd make a great coach one day. Could she be the heir apparent?
