Martin won't be a starting guard. Polley won't be starting at all. We know who the guards are and we'll have to wait and see who starts.

This would imply that AJ had a better season than Martin. To me it's Martin's to lose. AJ would have to 'take it'. If that happens then AJ is ready and it's very good news.

Just saying AJ won't be gifted the slot, and certainly hasn't earned it, at least over Martin.

Against Maryland he made 1 more basket than me on 10 more shots than me. If he, Whaley, Cole and Sanogo are 4 of 5 starters, take Bouknight out as 5th and replace him with anyone; how is UConn's starting 5 better in 2021-22?

He's 6'9, a career 38% three point shooter, and he doesn't count against the scholarship cap. If you can't see how that's helpful to a team, especially given the way basketball is played in 2021, then I don't know what to tell you.
