Edsall mentions we are at 80 scholarships - but I have it at 79. Maybe a WO earned a scholarship.

That’s about as positive as I’ve heard RE in a long time. Although, I have to chuckle that he’s impressed with the kids in the classroom... classes just started this week. ... so... I guess they made it to pick up their syllabuses.

Ha, I figured it out. He’s including Eli Thomas while I have him removed. So yes it’s 80 scholarship kids, of which one is medically out for the season, two are academically ineligible for the fall and four are kick specialists.

UConn football likely to lean more on veterans after 2018 youth infusion
Read this today and it became obvious that this was a bait and switch build for RE 2.0. Cast off anything related to the Diablo era if possible and fill it ( at any cost) with his "guys". Seen it over and over. Lean on the explanation that "we're so young" while stripping it down to the studs. Continually distract the fans with tales of yester-year and the glory of RE 1.0 while the program dissolves with YOUR choice of DC and strength coach.
Once the stripping is complete and you realize that you alienated Tyler Davis, Darrien Beavers, Marshe Terry ect, you realize that you went PAST the point of stripping to strafing the program. The answer..... D2 transfer and JC players. Now you have a mismatched quilt, but at least it's YOUR GUYS.
How many "Mike Leons" will it take..Scholarshipping walk on transfers and lower level transfers?
Somebody , anybody........."Give me your huddled transfers, yearning to be scholarshipped"
This article talks about how much older the team is....with whom, brother?
Smells like desperation to me.
Well RE 2.0, it is YOUR GUYS. It's on you. Awaiting the next rallying cry. Does winning matter yet? No depth chart? Really? The minor league crap we pull is embarrassing. I just hope that regardless of the outcome, we score first and RE can pocket that 2 Grand and get things started on the right foot.
The fog has lifted, the BS posturing has become clear and now it's time to walk the walk. This is YOUR plan RE. All credit if it manages 4 wins.

ANY coach, not just RE, would take a less talented guy who buys in versus a more talented guy who doesn't buy in, who doesn't work and distracts teammates. There are some talented guys who left because they didn't buy in.

Yes this is RE's way - but the cupboard was so bare this is the cost of stripping it down and building it up. The foundation was not there- it had to be done this way according to RE.

Here's the rub on all the RE haters: whether you buy in to his gamesmanship on posting depth chart, or his lack of candor with the press, you have to admit - he built this thing from the ground up years ago and did get us to the Fiesta Bowl in a year we started with Michigan and ended with Oklahoma.

It was destroyed by PP who was past his prime and the lunatic who tried to control everything and not let people in. RE has stated repeatedly he botched leaving here and probably never should have left. He is committed to building this correctly and then turn the reigns over to someone who hopefully will be competent and not kill it again. RE has his own way of doing it, a way that wouldn't be done at most schools, but UConn isn't most schools. UConn athletics has a track record second to none. So let's get out to the Rent on Thursday and root on the Huskies. Then come back here and over evaluate each player and play.

Well, guess after 4 plus years didn't work at Maryland. I'm rooting that all our participants do well.

Case in point - he tore down what was there to rebuild and they didn't give him enough time. Not enough buy in from the administration(who was hurting for money), fans, etc in what he was doing.

It was in the midst of his rebuild. Fans weren't buying in (Friedgen was loved) and there was a money crunch. If RE had another year, it would have been fully baked. Since he left, how have they done?

no offense but that’s delusional. he did an awful job and they were getting worse not better.

if anything they gave him too long.

I never looked at Maryland’s record until now. Stunning to see the last time they had seven wins was under - drum roll..... Edsall, who did it twice. Edsall’s time at Maryland is starting to age better, not worse vs their recent seasons.

Updated - best effort I could guess at on the "two deep." I probably have a bunch of guesses wrong at DL and LB in terms of slotting and even placement within their units.
