So, had Notre Dame been bumped down, neither LSU nor Ohio State (because of Maryland already in that region) would have been able to move up to #9 overall; that would have meant that it would have been Duke that would have unfortunately ended up in South Carolina's region as the 3 seed. Not sure how far ND "should" have fallen had the committee known Miles would no longer be playing; if down to a 4 seed, couldn't be placed in Virginia Tech's region.
