"YES"!!! But I enjoyed the alterative theories for Kayleigh's
delay on the Current/New "HECKEL" thread! Or perhaps some
Boneyarder has a "Play It
Again, Sam" idea. The story behind that theory was that the music
request was made by Kayleigh when she was seen/heard in Casablanca helping
the resistance movement (a secret mission!). I'm sure that she will be
in STORRS in time for the start of the June session (or perhaps: "OUT OF AFRICA", that, of course, is a different theory entirely!!). Then, again, maybe I just have too much time on my hands! GO HUSKIES! COME KAYLEIGH!
Yes. Really sad, but it is how it works. This is sad that College sports has come to this. "Is Heckel coming to Uconn"....
This is worse than MLB free agency. There is no innocence is College sports anymore.. It's all about the dollars. This is my opinion but at least I am honest about the situation....
Btw,
Many people (including myself) preferred College sports over Pros because of this "innocence" and because they were amateur and "student athletes"
But no more.. Especially since the NCAA has decided to get involved in the NIL money exchanges....
This is exactly why I won't watch the Mens College basketball games (where they are one and done) and especially football where anything goes financially....
College football used to be the best. But now you have guys making 6 million a year to play College football...
The women's game was the last great innocent sport...
Just my thoughts.
P.S.
I am as big of a Uconn fan as anyone on this board but I ask myself one question. Do I want to win this way?
...and their true height in Hartley units!i just hope that she (Kayleigh Heckel) declares to which ever school already so we can all get to the important thing to discuss during the summer (who will start)![]()
Vince Lombardi: "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit."This is sad that College sports has come to this. "Is Heckel coming to Uconn"....

I love Vince Lombardi. Greatest coach of all time in any sport.Vince Lombardi: "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit."
I'd gladly forfeit our 2 wins v. SC this season if only we could break the "habit" and return to simpler times. You?
Of course she was eligible to play at Vandy. Why wouldn't she be?I was disappointed to see that Shea was losing a good player but Iyana is a senior this year....transferring
to ND thru the portal for another season of hoops in college in 2025-2026. I wonder if she was even
eligible to play next year at Vandy?
Only took 25-ish hours to transpire. Now: is Heckel coming to Storrs?
Oh "HECK" no!!!Vince Lombardi: "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit."

Oh, the humanity! How well I recall the days when folks lamented that UConn got all the good players, and that's why they always won. Truth intervened; we've had to wait almost a decade to get another title. Geno has said many times that if titles were easy to come by, everyone would have one (or more). I faced the prospect of dying before #12 came our way. Now I can go with a smile (try on one, Dawn). Now all you are going to see is the Big Dogs like Uconn, SC, USC, ND have players come because of the NIL money...
Fine this time the portal will work in Uconns favor to which I am happy about too....Oh, the humanity! Now you threaten us with the prospect of only seeing the Huskies win into the future. Well, bring it on, Mr. Smarty-Pants. I, for one, will grin and bear it. I embrace it!
PS/Welcome, Kayleigh; you're positioned to be our next key piece--a true point guard.
Many of us go off to college not knowing exactly what our ultimate vocation will be. That's OK. If prospective athletes plan to use college as preparation for professional employment, how is that different from those with an academic bent? It's important to sort things out.If academics were the number 1 priority for these players then why would they transfer? Because it is about Athletics and money first and academics second.

But it could easily work in the favor of LSU or S.C. as well. Especially with all the players they are buying. Oh excuse me, I meant letting NIL pay them to play. With the NCAA in charge of distributing the funds.
What ever happened to "student athletes" coming to a school for academics first and athletics second? What ever happened to staying at one school for 4 years?

I have seen some of these players change schools 3 times in 3 years Hailey Van Lith comes to mind (she turned 3 different teams into contenders too)...Just saying.
Btw
Just because I am correct and you disagree you have to resort to name calling? "Smartypants" lol.
And she graduated with 3 degrees in that same period. She definitely took advantage of the student part while in school.Fine this time the portal will work in Uconns favor to which I am happy about too....

I agree with this in theory, though I believe the 'purity' of college sports has always been a bit of a myth, just as the amateur Olympic athlete was. What I held onto was the 4 year nature of WCBB and that has truly gone out the window. I do think there will be fans who will become less fanatic when each year they are trying to learn a new roster as the the five starters are all new arrivals from somewhere else as is happening at a number of schools. This is sad that College sports has come to this.
