Congratulations to the UConn women! They are now 19-3 for the season. I followed the contest on Gametracker. This was a lot tougher than UConn's 5-0 first round win over Siena which I attended, where UConn outshot Siena 25-1. Notre Dame had the edge in both possession and shots in this game, but they did not have UConn goalie Emily Armstrong or forward Rachel Hill.

Somersworth (NH) High School's Rachel Hill scored both UConn goals. Rachel now has 16 goals for the year. I tried to get soccer added as a sport for boys at Somersworth High when I taught history there more than 40 years ago. The football coach was against it, and he prevailed. I do not recall whether or not the school offered girls soccer at that time.

Up next is a Sweet Sixteen match-up with Rutgers at 1 PM on Sunday. The game is at Rutgers, where Rutgers defeated UConn 2-0 back in mid-September. Go Huskies!
