We've talked about this a bunch of times. The start time is because of the NFL playoffs.

The NFL rules the broadcast world. If they want something they get it. Whether it makes sense or not is of no import.

I'm in Vegas this weekend for a bach party. 8am start is amazing, but risky. Can't think of a better way to start the day. Unfortunately, I will not have time to sleep on Friday night with all the gambling and going to the club and all.
