Not so secret sauce, Geno and CD

I find it somewhat amazing that not many have figured out what has become perfectly obvious to the most casual observer! The reason UConn women's basketball has become dominant and stayed on top for so long is the special relationship and division of labor in coaching developed by Geno and Chris over the course of more than 30 years. Others programs may get great players and have some success at making them even better in addition to being good game coaches but no one has anything close to this long time dynamic duo. Others may try to emulate but will never duplicate. Sadly, it is also doubtful that even UConn will ever be able to duplicate their yin and yang when they are gone. Until that time, I will continue to savor what they have created.

As great a coach as Geno is, I do view UConn's records as a product of the two of them. When it comes time to put that statue up, I hope it is one of the two of them.

That photo there would make a good resemblance of what the Statue should look like. Petition it I say.

Geno and CD are the best. But there is a secret sauce, getting the right girls who want to get better not by their standards but by Geno's. UConn loses some girls because they can't handle it, but the ones that are willing to do what it takes to break down those wall become exceptional. Last week I told my daughter how Geno quit talking to Stewie a couple weeks before March. He said that he could not do any more for her, she had to look in the mirror and answer her own questions. Like many here on the boneyard know, Geno is a basketball genius and CD keeps him in line. Always a good women behind a great man.
