The Northeastern and Michigan State women's basketball teams will open the series in Boston on Dec. 18, 2015. The following day, the Huskies and Spartans will play a men's basketball-men's hockey doubleheader at Matthews Arena.

Now that we've stepped up to Hockey East would be really cool to see UConn try one of these basketball/hockey doubleheaders

Stupid question: since the hockey part would have to be played at the XL Center, how long does it take to convert from ice to floor (or vice versa)?

That would have the makings of an epic day of St. Patrick's Day-ish revelry in downtown Hartford. The bars would be mobbed.

They're playing both at Matthews Arena, so I guess it's feasible to switch over from court to ice

I was just coming to post this story. People have often posted here about how UConn needs to use mens and womens basketball and hockey to leverage football scheduling. Set up a series of games with B1G teams.

If they are really making a push to build brand presence in New England by playing here, (a) that's good for our chances, (b) it should be possible to schedule.

Boston is a nice city to visit, especially if teams make it an overnight or two. Not sure though if location mattered in terms of Northeastern attraction.
