The Series with NC State...

  • Duke and NC State will meet for the 80th time in school history with the Wolfpack leading the series 43-36. NCSU has won five out of the last six meetings, including two in a row.
  • In games played in Durham, N.C., Duke owns a 19-16 mark, including wins in 14 out of the last 15 games. It marks the first time since Feb. 17, 2000 that NC State is ranked higher than Duke in a contest in Cameron Indoor Stadium. In that contest, 14th-ranked Duke knocked off seventh-ranked NC State, 70-64.
  • Coach P has totaled a 9-8 record against NC State.

This game is playing out as Duke could've only dreamed, with NC State committing uncharacteristic turnovers and just looking way out of sorts. The major caveat for Duke is the foul trouble. I'm astounded that Duke outscored NC State 9-3 after Williams went to the bench with her 2nd foul.

Final: NC State comes from behind to beat Duke, 63-60. Grace Hunter came up big for NC State, who improve to 21-1, 10-1 ACC. Duke falls to 11-10, 5-5 ACC.

Elissa Cunane led all scorers with a monster game, 27 ooints on 8 of 9 from the field and 12 of 14 from FT line, while also grabbing 7 rebounds for NC State, which finished the game 44.7 %, and was 8 of 19 from THREE. Jakia Brown-Turner added 12 points, and Grace Hunter's three THREEs and 9 points was good enough for 3rd place today.

Duke was led by Haley Gorecki's 21 points, on 8 of 18 from the field. Leonna Odom and Kyra Lambert each had 13 for Duke, which finished the game shooting 38.1% from the field and was 6 of 21 from THREE.

NC State led the rebounding battle, 35-30. Kayla Jones had 12 boards for the Wolfpack Women.

NC State finished the game with 19 turnovers, but turned the ball over only 4 times in the second half. Duke turned the ball over 14 times.

Duke led in points in the paint, 30-22, only the fifth time this season NC State did not take that category.

Next up: NC State concludes its three-game road swing, visiting Virginia Tech Thursday evening. Duke hosts North Carolina Thursday.
