He added RU because if half a million people tune into a Rutgers-Purdue game in week 5, that's half a million more eyeballs being exposed to the B1G brand then he had before. That's a millions of kids who may see Michigan's big house on game day and be inspired to apply to the school or become a fan because they tuned into an RU-Michigan game in Ann Arbor. These conferences - in most cases Louisville notwithstanding - aren't adding their teams necessarily for their success, they are adding them to bring their brand into a new market.
