Interesting...I'm guessing that 15% gets closer to 50% as we get closer to May. I'm not a huge follower of recruiting, but Noel is one of the kids I really want.

I think Drummond will stay. He's clearly not ready to play at the next level despite his gifts.

I'd agree and I think he and his family would also. But can he turn down being a top 5 pick despite not being ready to play in the NBA?

Anthony Davis will be picked before Drummond.
I think it's a toss up. I could see any given franchise thinking one is better than the other.

Personally I think Drummond would be better off coming back for a year but I also think it is hard to turn down first or second overall pick money.

So PC troll, are you trying to help us get Noel or convince Drummond to leave and hurt us next year? You must be smoking some good stuff if you think Drummond will be the #1 pick when he's not even ready for the NBA. If he goes it will be for the money, not because he's ready.

That is the 'multi' million dollar question.

Drummond's situation is very unique, at least in terms of Uconn guys. The other early entry lottery picks had either "mastered" the college game (Okafor, Gordon, Allen, Rip, Kemba, Caron, Donyell) and had virtually no reason to come back, or combined tantalizing physical talent with well above average production in college (Rudy, Charlie, Thabeet, and you can probably include Lamb in this group if he were to leave).

Drummond has millions waiting for him if he wants them, but is clearly not ready to make meaningful contributions in the NBA right now. It all comes down to whether he wants to get better in college (significant minutes/no money) or get better in the NBA (fewer minutes/tons of money).

I consulted my crystal ball and it says: Although AD will not be ready for the NBA, the NBA will be ready for him. Before the NBA Draft Declaration period, AD will discover that more than a few lottery teams will promise to pick him if they get the #1 or #2 pick and if he's still available. AD and his family take about 10 seconds to make their decision. Flat-top Nerlens decides to step right in where AD steps out becoming a UConn Husky the fall of 2012.

You can trust my crystal ball. It has never lied to me before...hum...or was that just my wishful-thinking reflection. Never mind! I can never tell between the two.

The question you need to ask yourself is would you prefer Drummond for a second year or Noel next year? I'd prefer Drummond for another year.

Just because you prefer something, does not mean it will happen or is realistic. Drummond could be a top 5 pick and if he goes he goes. I'd want him to stay but can't be mad a kid who has a chance to take care of his family.

just to add to this. AD is in a bit of a different situation. yes he has millions on the table if he wants, and its a do i take the $ now of come back for year 2 then get the $...but add this. hes not a ship player like most are in his situation, he payed his way this year(loan i think right??). that will prob play a big role in the end decision.

My point is that unless a player is the missing piece to a National Championship team, I don't like building a team with one and done players as if you look at other teams that do this, few win championships. Obviously, I'm nobody to tell AD what he should do. I'm only presenting one fan's opinion in preferring AD back to replacing one one and done player with another. If it was up to me, I'd want AD back and Noel to come, and play two power forwards with Oriakhi in the middle. But I can always dream.....with that lineup we'd really have to defend the 3 because nobody would be taking it into the paint on us.

Hey jacka$$, buy a clue and figure out it's not all about you. Kid will be a multimillionaire. The league is littered with guys who aren't ready for the league. Drummond will be fine.

Did you see Shamgod Wells Jr. is a nice high school prospect. Word on the street is he plans to sign with Providence and change his name to Son of God Shamgod......

I think Sean is right, how can that be construed as trolling?

The Drummond who said he is coming back next year is the same Drummond that said he was definitely staying in the 2012 class, all the way up to July.

If he does decide to stay in the draft, I expect him to go #1 as well.

This from an NBA scout: "I see guys like (Anthony) Davis all the time, guys like Drummond are rare. It's been five years since the last one (physically dominant, elite level big man) which was Oden."

So you guys are suggesting, even if he is a consensus number one pick, that he isn't even close to ready to play in the nba? And should without a doubt turn it down and come back to storrs? lol

was thabeet, the consensus #2 overall, ready to play in the nba?

draft status is about potential, not the ability to step in right away and contribute. now i think drummond will be a much better pro than hasheem, he will need some time to develop.

Being the #1 pick and being ready to play in the NBA are two completely different things.
