I clicked on your link and saw this article about college hockey and agents. Haven't really thought much about the professionalization aspect of hockey, but my junior year apartment mate in college played hockey and was a second round draft choice who played in the AHL and then had 5 games in the NHL. I can tell you as a junior that he used to receive letters and phone calls from the most prominent hockey agent in the world at the time. I also worked back in 1989 for ProServ, where David Falk was an agent. I'm not sure what the quid pro quos were between the agency and college players back then, but for sure there was contact. Tommy Amaker's sister landed a job at the agency in the mid 80s while Tommy was still at school. They went on to represent him later.

That's fine, so long as the Nocera/NCAA articles are left face up! While I also consider the Times a liberal rag, it had the testicles to attack a morally corrupt NCAA governing board.
