The NCAA fires back. Nocera has a massive conflict of interest.
Massive? That's a bit of an overstatement. The conflict is that his fiancee is the communications director for one of the law firms against the NCAA in the "likeness" dispute. I'm not sure how much of a conflict that is. In fact, the article notes: "One of the firm’s lawyers has provided some guidance to the lead attorney pursuing a high profile case against the NCAA involving former UCLA basketball star Ed O’Bannon and other former college athletes."
She isn't a lawyer and she isn't involved in the case. If she doesn't stand to gain from the lawsuit, it's not a massive conflict of interest.
I don't know how big the law firm is, but if it's a big one, and it looks like from their webpage, they could have their hands on so many lawsuits that Nocera couldn't write anything about anything.
