Will we have a hoops team still by then? Ok that's stupid but we are die hard fans and follow our team every day even in the off season and I think most of us really have no idea what our direction is or who will be calling the shots in 2014. No way we beat out the elites with the amount of unknowns we have.

No way? ..............Don't be a Debbie Downer, dude. Try an affirmation or two. Like WAY!

Heard he is visiting pc today with some other recruits

IF Jim Calhoun is our coach, I like our chances. If KO, is our coach, I think that he'll surprise you. If it's neither, then we'll see but we'd only take a high profile guy over KO so....UConn as a basketball power isn't going away anytime soon.

Noah Vonleh Taking Tour of New England Schools

UConn is on tap for sometime next week.

“I think we might be going down there next week,” Vonleh told SNY.tv of UConn, where he visited last year for Midnight Madness. “They always have pretty good teams. They always have players around the NBA every year basically.”

He's visiting PC? It's over!

Now you are getting it. Honestly who knows what may become of it, but Cooley certainly does not have the Welsh, Keno thinking that we should not waste our time going after these kids. he is all over Jordan Mickey from Texas against all the big boys down south. You look at the kids list and we stick out like a sore thumb. Welsh and Keno could not handle the rejection. Cooley appears to have no problem with it.

Make an NCAA tournament before you come to the Big Boys board. When PC actually wins basketball games, that is when you will be taken seriously

So the team I root for has to make the NCAA tournament before I can post on this board? You make it sound like we have something to do with our teams success, which you did not, nor will I.

BTW, being taken serious on a message board especially this one is way down my concern list. It's tools like yourself that make this board enjoyable though so keep up the good work on determining who can post and what they can post.

We shouldn't scoff at 5* players visiting PC because I seem to remember Dunn and Ledo committing last year. Now all he has to do is actually find a way to keep his good players once they realize how much of a bummer of a city Providence is. (Yes I know Storrs is cow country)

What was the deal with Cotton and Coleman. Scared they were going to lose PT? Is Ledo going to qualifiy?

In regards to Coleman it's the thing that a lot of kids can't handle these days, the kid has played 35 minutes a game for the last two years, Cooley sit's him down and tells him he sees him as the teams 6th man with some reduced minutes naturally as a result of improving the roster, his response? See ya? Having not been the coach who recruited him it's tough based upon what Keno may have told him. I'm all for staying away from BABC kids for a while.

Cotton went home for Easter (Phoenix) and an "adviser" convinced him he could and should be the starting point guard on Sean Miller's Arizona team (which he could not be). He came back to PC after the holiday, met with Cooley and decided to stay at PC. The kids these days have so many people in their ears it's crazy. UConn is not immune from this either of course.

In regards to Vonleh, I heard him and Ledo really went after each other (in a fun way) in a scrimmage on campus. Lot's of fun for all to see.

Not sure why you think Providence is a bummer. It's a great little city with lot's of college kids, world class restaurants and plenty to do and see. Major improvements over the last 20 years.

I don't know about Providence's restauraunts being "world class". Some decent Italian joints and Pot au Few is nice, but "world class" is a bit far fetched. As far as plenty to see & do....mmmm, go to Newport, or the Cape first.
I do agree that the city has improved. A lot of that credit goes to Buddy Cianci. Even though he was a crook, he was good for Providence.

Not a PC fan, but: Coleman is off to Gonzaga, which I consider a step up. Coleman didn't like that he was told he would lose time to Ledo/Dunn. It wasn't exactly a question if he would, Ledo and Dunn were going to play ahead of him.

Cotton is still at PC. Cotton took it better and probably had fewer choices given his talent level. He likely wasn't going up by transferring.

Bigger question is what the heck is up with Sidiki Johnson???

Ledo is likely going to qualify (or has, but needs confirmation from the NCAA).

Going backwards, I'm not sure how seriously UConn recruited either Dunn or Ledo. Ledo was never really on UConn's radar and was likely never leaving his hometown. Cooley signed him, but he would have signed with almost any halfway decent PC coach.

Dunn was a steal for them, but had a lot to do with Cooley being on him when Cooley was at Fairfield. Dunn came a bit out of the blue and UConn came on too late, realized he wasn't interested and gave up pretty quickly (despite UConn consistently being mentioned in his top 3).

UConn went after Ledo and Dunn with less urgency because they knew/thought they had Napier/Boatright (PC recruit) coming back as well as Omar Calhoun coming in. Calhoun may not be as highly thought of as Ledo and Dunn but he's not far behind.

UConn won the Drummond recruitment.

PC also won the Coleman recruitment a few years ago, UConn got some bum (sarcasm) named Jeremy Lamb who didn't start on his high school team until he was a senior.

Both UConn and PC struck out on Noel.

This is truly a great time for PC. Calhoun may retire soon. UConn is banned from the 2012-2013 NCAAT, much like PC the past 10 or so years. Cooley is an energetic coach. There is a ton of top talent close in the Northeast, which helps PC immensely. PC may compete with UConn on local recruits, but PC isn't a national recruiter like UConn is (historically). PC also doesn't do a great job with NYC recruits (SJU really hurts them there).

I expect PC will get a decent -> very good recruit from the next two classes from this area, because there is just a ton of talent in the area. UConn will pull someone from somewhere who will be at least as good. I doubt Vonleh goes to PC with the interest he is getting from UK, UNC, Cuse, UConn, etc. Neither Dunn nor Ledo had as many top suitors as Vonleh does.

I wouldn't mind seeing providence rise up... But they need to produce with these two kids Ledo and Dunn. If they don't improve a lot, and get drafted as high in the nba draft s people thought they would going into PC, then that will hurt PC a lot. I like Cooley, seems like the guy with the right attitude for PC.

Just one thing on the above, Uconn is banned from the tourney due to to BS and a little nepotism. PC has missed the tourney for what seems like 25 years due to being really really bad.

I hope they pull off a bit of a resurrection, but it won't be at Uconn's expense

I know, I was more teasing PC.

I know someone intimately involved with Ledo's recruitment and I wouldn't characterize it like that. Ledo had legitimate interest in UConn and UConn in him. I was told that Ledo almost committed to UConn.

With Dunn I think there was little interest on UConn's part just based on the current roster. Many other years UConn would have been all over him.

Perhaps I am off on the interest in Ledo. Then again different people hear different things from recruits. Perhaps who you know heard something different from the person I talked to. Unless you heard it from Ledo or one of the UConn staff members, it's clearly debatable, though I will say my contact wasn't super close to Ledo's recruitment so I'll give yours more weight.

UConn was late to the party with Dunn and left it early. Perhaps if they went all out the results would have been different, but I agree the composition of the team did not lead towards heavily recruiting him. His early recruitment by Cooley obviously helped PC.
