Down off the ledge people, it is bad, but the coach is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Y'all can discuss who is next and what not, but you will be talking about it for a long while before any action takes place.

I think your assessment is an accurate view of what will occur...but...why?

What are they going to do, RE-lose to Towson? Lose to Michigan by 90 instead of 85?

Didn't somebody do that just last year (fire a coach after 1 games)? I seem to remember that from somewhere down south.

getting a HC fired after one week is, in reality, (and unfortunately) unrealistic. a coordinator or other coach being fired after one week or two, not unrealistic.

If a coach is fired for something other than a criminal matter at this point in the year, the AD has to be fired too because they should have never started the year as the coach. One loss should never make the difference.

Now if someone wants to get around to framing PP for a crime, get on it!

Several years ago Arkansas did it after one week. Obviously that isn't going to happen here, but it should happen eventually. Hell, this has been shouldn't have been hired in the first place.

And why not? UConn only wishes it had the "tradition" and success of the Razorbacks. So why should anyone ever qualify that "Obviously that isn't gonna happen here". Let's show the nation we are serious about this program and demand better.

No question a one-game-in firing is unorthodox. But last night killed whatever hope there is for this season. Desperate times call for bold measures.

Right now UConn is a national laughingstock. Warde pulling trigger now would change the conversation in a heartbeat.

I think PPs bosses were hoping the decent home schedule would be enough to get through the season. There better be a serious reassessment of that this AM.

it's not one game, it's the beginning of season number 3 and the pattern is clearly evident

I am fully aware that it is out of the norm and I am not about to get my hopes up by viewing it as a possibility.

I would however love to hear an argument on why it would be better for the program to allow P to finish the year as opposed to letting him start his retirement this afternoon.

If Manuel went to bed last night he needs to spend this AM getting fitted for a Dunkin Donuts uni.

If we're simply going to follow what others do, why not pick a successful program to emulate? At this point we'd provide greater entertainment value for season ticket holders by paying for the BTN and installing an enormotron at the Rent.

I agree 100% with this. With CR happening what good does it serve to win, maybe 2 games this year? What are we trying to do, let every team in the AAC prove they are a better add should conferences start looking again? This is not one game, as others have said. This is season 3 and fan support is crucial. What happens mid season when 1/4 of the stadium is full and by the time Memphis comes we're lucky to pull in 5k?

He should have been fired after the 3rd quarter. WM should have tapped Foley, Hughes or Weist on the shoulder and said, "You've got it from here." Then, have security escort P and GDL from the grounds. I'm being totally serious.

Nothing had changed from last year except we lost some talent. Why should anyone expect anything to change for Maryland, Michigan or the AAC season? Oh, we'll probably win a few games, but losing to Towson convincingly, beaten physically, and in year 3 the players still haven't picked up the system. Forget the adjustments in the second half the saw a 3 pt deficit balloon to 15.

No, this needs to end now. We are not winning the next two games anyway. Let the interim coach try it his way and audition for the job, while WM has all year to scout candidates. P's gone, why suffer through a full lame duck season. The man hired to tread water sank the program to the bottom.

If you disagree, wrap your head around that Edsall will be cheered in two weeks. Image the odds of that 24 hrs ago.

Right now UConn is a national laughingstock. Warde pulling trigger now would change the conversation in a heartbeat.

This is probably the least important reason to do anything. And we're no more a national laughingstock than Indiana, Duke, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Oregon State, BC and others were after they lost to an FCS team to start the season - and I'm sure there are a lot more than those mentioned. Remember Pitt last year? It happens.

Replacing PP after this game would certainly make us a topic of conversation which in the game of CR wouldn't be the worst thing I suppose. But the real reason something should be done is to provide this team and its fans something they haven't had in what feels like a long time - hope. Finishing out this season with PP will feel like a long death march and put the final nail in the coffin that is the broader fan base of UConn football.

Season 1 we beat Fordham handily. Ended up 5-7.

Season 2 we beat UMass, but threw INT's and they had unlucky turnovers. Still won. Ended up 5-7.

Season 3 we lost to an FCS team. Fire him.

I think it's pretty simple.

It's almost a lock P wil not be the coach next year. Can him now and elevate an assistant to baby sit and point the team in a new direction. Why waste time with P when he is not part of our future.

If you're the AD and you think one of the assistants is your man for the job, then you fire the HC and promote the assistant. I'm guessing WM doesn't have a candidate on the staff he wants to promote, I think he wants to clean house with a completely new staff and you can't really do that in September. You might bring in an out of work guy and keep the assistants, but then the assistants know they're going to get replaced at the end of the season anyway and that probably hurts the team.

It's six of one and half a dozen of the other... but the downside of firing P right now is instead of 2 or 3 wins we have zero and the loss margins are bigger. Maybe this is something boneyarders don't care about but maybe the AD does.

I want to be clear, I'm all for getting rid of this bum. It's just clear to me that there has to be a disaster of a season for it to happen.

I'm sure our opponents will be happy to know we're locked in to this situation because of conventional wisdom. So just stay on the horse that can't swim because you're afraid to switch in midstream?
