Peoples was one of our banks and I was on the examination team for a couple of exams. The main branch was dead downtown and the area was pretty rundown. It was the only bank I examined where if we stayed late s security guy would see you to your car. In all fairness to Holyoke there was a little Hispanic bakery down the street that was fabulous. Peoples was a smallish bank back then and even now has only 3.5 billion in assets.
