If Geno Auriemma is not voted NCOY unanimously, it will be an outrage. This man lost his three best players to graduation, is playing a center who stands just 5'10", brought in only one freshman, and one who has been out for significant stretches due to concussion and leg injury. Yet he has defeated 10 Top 25 teams, including five of the top six ranked teams in the nation. And he has just won 100 games in a row, a feat that is unheard of, and undreamed of.

This is Geno Auriemma's finest job of coaching in a career that ranks as the finest ever.

The vote should, and must, be unanimous. The performance of his team this year has been spectacular and miraculous!

Whoa cowboy, let's wait till the NCAA tourney. Once we complete an undefeated regular season and grab both titles (reg season and a American tourney title) then we shall proclaim him Coach of the year.

However, an American team that knocks Geno and Co. down before the NCAAs certainly has a coach worthy of this accolade for having willed his/her team to the unthinkable and improbable. IMO if Temple miraculously upsets this juggernaut then TC deserves consideration for the incredible improvement of her club this year with a whipped cream and cherry topping of having upended UCONN.

It's a long shot but it's a shot

Yes. What Geno has accomplished this season is in the category of Daniel Day-Louis' performance in Lincoln.

I remember watching the 2012 Academy Awards when Meryl Streep presented the award for best actor. After rolling through the lengthy list of nominees, the moment came to announce the winner. She immediately said Daniel Day-Louis, and didn't even bother to open the envelope!

I think he should win coach of the year regardless. Can you think of another coach that has accomplished what he has from the start of the season to now. I'm voting for Gabby Williams as POY. She's been the X-factor for this team all year long.

Coach of the Year is usually named at the end of the season. Much too soon to name any as COTY.

Actually, it's my understanding that COY voting is carried out at the end of the regular season, and before the NCAA tournament. Connecticut will not lose a game to a AAC team. Just not going to happen. So this Geno Auriemma team is going to end the season undefeated, and with a 104-game winning streak. Whether UConn wins the NC or not, the voting comes before hand. So there is no way that an undefeated regular season and a triple-digit winning streak, especially after losing the players he did, should make him a unanimous choice for national coach of the year.

Fairfield , I agree with you. Geno should be NCOY.....Hands Down. But I will suspect the voters will try to find someone , anyone breathing , to give it to. They never want to give UConn the credit it deserves. Just look at the media coverage for this incredible stretch of games . Or should I say , lack of media coverage. And Geno and coaches , along with a band of players lacking a Pre-season AA , have devastated all put in front of them. Was it because he had all the best players ? NO. ; Was it because he had AA's ? NO. WAs it because he has a soft cream puff schedule ? NO. Or was it because he is , and should be , the NCOY?

I would say what he has done is more than NCOY worthy.

I totally agree on COY, but he did bring in 3 freshmen, no? (Bent, Irwin, Dangerfield?)

Irwin and Bent have not been significant contributors in any of the games. Unlike, for example, Joyner Holmes who has been a major driver for Texas; or in previous years like Breanna Stewart or some big stars. Crystal has not been in the starting line-up, has scored in single-digits in most games, and has been out for several due to those two injuries. So it's not as if Coach Geno completely replenished his line-up with top freshmen.

He has been winning mostly with last year's bench players. For any coach to do that, and come through the toughest schedule in the nation, undefeated, is an amazing accomplishment.
