Nika to miss 2025 season due to ACL

Apparently Nika tore her ACL this offseason and won't be back for the Storm this season. Am I the only one that didn't know this? I completely missed the news on her October injury.

The Storm have ruled out guard Nika Muhl and forward Jordan Horston for the 2025 season after both suffered ACL tears during the WNBA offseason.

I knew about it. There was a clip of her on twitter absolutely screaming when it happened. And everyone in the comments was super uncomfortable. Gabby Williams was there to look after her and comfort her when it happened.

It is kind of like Christyn Williams as far as timing is concerned. The timing couldn’t be worse for Nika. She is trying to earn her place in the league and this is another season lost. It is a good opportunity for Sundell to slide into that backup point guard spot.

Sadly, this was kind of expected. When she went down a few months ago and had surgery, a lot of us expected her to miss this season because of the quick turnaround. I mean you never know how a person is going to respond to the surgery and recovery. This is good for Nika in a positive way. She can recover and get 100% healthy. Help coach the players at practice and during the games. As well develop another level to her game. A lot of players see the game better while they are recovering from an injury.

Is there any word whether she’ll be spending the summer with the Storm? She’s six months out from the injury and can obviously do some workouts. I think it would do her some good to be around for practices and games. Plus she has a huge fan base in Seattle and can put some fannies in seats and continue to build her brand.

I knew that Nika had been injured and would take time to recover. I'm not surprised about the timing, even though she was at the draft last week. I don't recall hearing about Horston's injury.

Hopefully, she can go back to the team she was playing for when she got hurt. A solid winter playing in Europe will help her cause. However, I get the feeling Nika's W career is already over. One thing in her favor is that if she comes back next year she will still be in her rookie contract. Presumably, she will come at a much lower rate than new draftees.
