"Auriemma's been crowing about international rules for a while, since before becoming Team USA head coach, and for much more than just lowering the rims, a suggestion for which he received a tremendous amount of undeserved flak."

Undeserved, nah. Bad idea.

While I don't like the idea of lowering the rim either, I'm glad that such free-wheeling discussions are taking place - I think it's good for the sport to have an intellectual "spring cleaning" every now and then.

Lowering the rims would be a disaster. Same rims, same court, same ball - stop making adjustments and let them play the game.

Leave the dang rim alone.... OR, so me a math favor. Take a men's championship team from 30 years ago. Compare it (physically) to a championship men's team today. Identify the % difference in height/size and INCREASE the size of the men's court and INCREASE the height of the men's basket... make the men's game more challenging 'cause dang, it's so easy these days....

While I have not made up my mind about dropping the rim by 6 to 12 inches being good for the game I am betting that an awful lot of the folks ou here may not realize that in volleyball at the NCAA level there is a difference in height of the net (I think 6 inches) meaning that they already recognize the physical differences in the mens and womens physicality and size.

Yeah but I don't want the women's game to be just like the men's! Some of the difference is due to the height difference. I hope they don't mess with it.

Yes, I agree with this. I know the women miss a lot of layups and chippies around the basket. and
that frustrates Geno, but that's part of the game. Let it be.

Doesn't Geno always says about other teams that they need to improve? Shouldn't that same theory apply to the women's game?
