So the Big 12 is not expanding.
Here is what UConn and the AAC should do.
1) Don't add any football schools. BYU, Army, and Air Force won't come. No need to add Colorado State. Adding schools will dilute the football money.
2) Football is already strong, but basketball needs work. Therefore, add VCU and Wichita St.
Go to 20-game conference schedule (13 teams). Uconn has to be guaranteed to play VCU, WSU, Cincy, Memphis, Temple, SMU twice every year.
3) Force the AAC to relinquish Tier 3 rights.
4) Drop sports to get to NCAA minimum 7 male sports (men's golf, men's tennis, men's cross country, women's cross country, women's tennis) and still stay Title IX compliant.

In review we cut costs, increase revenues (Tier 3 rights), keep football strong, and strengthen basketball.

AAC doesn't need to expand, but all schools need to keep investing in football and basketball. Next, the schools need more money and Fresco needs to figure out how to get more TV revenue. It could be renewing the contract at a higher price or negotiating to give more TV rights back to the schools.

For UConn, it's time for the donors to step up and fund the growth. Benedict needs to figure out how to make it happen. We should not drop any sports as this will not make you more attractive to the Big 10 or the ACC.

VCU and Wichita would be interesting as potential bb only additions. I don't agree that BYU definitely won't come as a FB only, at the least the prospect needs to be looked into.

Please stop this insanity. The reason why the original Big East became an epic fail was having BB only schools mixed together with all sports schools. Then you throw in a Commissioner who thought it was a good idea to deadlock every important conference wide vote by insuring the number of BB only schools is always the same as the other side has, and guess who gets to break tie votes?

We don't need to pursue that failure of a business model again.
