The key point of the resolution voted on (@ BOT mtg. today?) is to have the BOT authorize the AD to sign contracts within those limits without prior approval of the BOT as long as the President approves for expediency.

From the UConn @ UCF BOT Agenda thread:
It’s a State contract. AD can negotiate the business terms but prior to execution it has to be reviewed/approved by the UConn General Counsel (and the the State AG office depending on contract value amount) and approved by the BOT prior to execution by the President (or authorized signatory)

You guys do realize this authorizes him to do lots more than athletic contracts? This has to do with functionality of the University to speed up certain processes that move at a snails pace.

Great. Now, Can we give him the frigging authority to allow waivers for athletes to be admitted?

That should have been done 15 years ago, so UConn could be more competitive early on. Instead UConn has been at a disadvantage from the beginning with recruiting. Heck even Duke, Notre Dame, Stanford and others have bent the admissions, but not UConn.

?This resolution is specifically for Delegated Signature Authority for Athletic Competition Contracts.

It probably also serves so that these contracts can be signed without a BOT agenda item, ie in secret. This isn’t necessarily a good thing.

Correct. It also helps dispel pronouncements of the "inevitable demise" of UConn football. This President is committed to the football program. So is the BOT. DB just put together an Independent schedule that will surprise many who predicted a bevy of Coastal Carolinas and Directional U’s.. Looks like they flipped the San Jose St game into November and left UMass as our opener. There’s also a great road trip to Ole Miss. This is a schedule we all can embrace. Stay tuned and get psyched.
