New Logo: A Month After reveal, Only 1 shirt and 1 hat

with the new logo available for purchase. And it looks like UConnhuskies.com and fansedge.com are still trying to push old logo stuff on the consumer at full price.

We also know that these sites have images of other shirts that are not yet for sale, as that was how the new logo was leaked early.

I am usually a glass-half-full guy, but what the hell. What a complete fail by the AD or whoever is in charge of this. If you are not ready to move product, don't reveal it. You loose any buzz you create by the reveal. It makes no sense.

If anyone has anymore info on this issue, I would love to hear it.

But I do agree with you that the marketing piece of this was also badly handled. From the leak two weeks early to not having anything to sell, to the lack of acceptance by the fan base generally. Complete and utter Fail.

I completely agree. I was looking to grab a new tee or sweatshirt with the new logo, but there's nothing out there. UConn has a terrible marketing department.

To be fair, I don't see a great deal of merchandise from the other schools that went through the Nike rebranding.

http://www.osubeaversshop.com/ has a few things, but they're dwarfed by older stuff, and they had a few months head start.

http://www.calbearsshop.com/ even moreso.

I have a feeling this is all waiting on a nike manufacturing schedule.

Its possible the lack of new merchandise has something to do with negative reaction from some of the fans. Maybe the marketing dept is considering whether to go forward w/ the new logo or revert before pumping out a bunch of new stuff.

I think the more likely reason is that the new logo was revealed during a dead period in the apparel cylces. Basketball Season is over and new Football merchandise doesnt really come out until mid summer if I remember correctly. I bet there will be a bunch of new stuff in the next couple months.

The least they could have done is made that one new shirt in a Blue or White version. Instead it's only available in dark grey which isnt even one of our colors!

The Co-Op definitely has a navy Nike polo w/the logo. Most of the Nike line for summer will not be in until July.

And for what it's worth, there is virtually unanimous support for the new logo within the Athletic Department and there is no one even remotely considering a switch back to the old logo.

Good. because I like the new logo. It really grew on me over the first week, and now i like it much better than the old one. I liked the idea someone posted back when the logo came out of taking a bit of the hair off the husky dog's head and making it "lighter" (closer to the white husky). Still, it's a great logo. Anyone who feels that passionately about the old one needs some therapy.

Imagine my surprise that the folks who are employees of the Athletic Department "support" the new logo! This will be a short-lived thing, comparable to the Eagle-duck. It is terrible.

I suspect that the we are ahead of the intended time schedule and that is the reason for the lack of merchandise. I also suspect that their maybe different uniforms from the one we saw at the reveal. I'm almost positive that there was only the charcoal gray t-shirt (which I own and is awesome), a blue polo, & a blue hat....both of which I didn't like at all. It was as if the logo was too small on the hat and polo. The hat was particularly terrible.

The one I saw on a coach was blue with a smallish logo on the back and UConn over the front breast. Had a bunch of the piping we love so well on the football uniforms, too.Nike swoosh on the sleeve. It was a lighter blue than I would have anticipated and I swear I actually thought it was a bear at first. I have to say that I didn't even recognize it, or the coach, at first. My companion pointed it out. He's not a UConn grad but with no prompting from me commented that the new logo looked cheap. And it did.

Isn't it funny how everyone ended up being right about KO's lack of contract hurting recruiting?

No contract = so-so 2013 recruiting class.
New 5 year contract = 2 All-Americans (and counting) in the class of 2014.

Probably just some crazy coincidence though.

One thought about the new logo... IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A BEAR IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. You can't make this stuff up. Do the complainers saying 'the new logo looks like a bear' realize that the old logo wasn't even a husky? The new logo looks fine and the athletes like it. Protest something else, please.
