Just smashed Trumbull and called off the dogs in the 4th Qtr. Some kind of passing TD record for Mike Collins - headed to Penn.

Funny thing...Addazio beat teams like this when he was at Cheshire...he was considered a GREAT coach. Lou Marinelli..a GREAT HS coach..some in Fairfield County refer to him as a legend. Jack Cochran..who turned out more D-1 scholarship players in 1 season than those 2 combined over their careers...he has a rule named after him and people go back and forth about what kind of coach he was.

Scores like that happen when power house teams play also rans. ( In Southington it happens on a routine basis). What matters is whether the strong team wins with class. Cochran's attitude was "rub their faces in it." I witnessed it too many times in the New Britain-Southington rivalry.

Cochran also recruited players from out of district by creating & exploiting loopholes with Magnet status. It's easy to win with good kids coming in from multiple towns.

Coach talk to some people down this way...New Canaan definitely had a rep of rubbing it in people's faces last year. All I'm saying is that after the act New Canaan had last year Marinelli is no better than Cochran.

How many D1 players and in what season for Cochran?

He had 3 or 4 in 1 season when he was at Bloomfield. Marinelli will have 3 total with Niang included (Hanratty, Allen) Most I can ever remember Addazio having is 2 (Macintosh twins) in 1 season.

Point is..and @kris1 can back me up on this..Marinelli's teams rub it in their opponents faces all the time down this way. He is no angel....don't put him on a pedestal and at the same time slam Cochran. The only differences between them..one did it at inner-city schools..the other in a well-to-do town.

Recruiting happens down this way too...case in point there was a kid who lived a block behind me in Port Chester that went to Greenwich HS and happened to play football. Kind of ironic considering the fact that Port Chester HS is 2 blocks away and also has a football team.

tons of kids from Port Chester pay to go to Greenwich instead of going to their public school. It's been happening for over 50 years

That's cool and if they happen to play football and were spotted by coach Al or now john Marinelli and invited to play at GHS that's ok right..it isn't recruiting? How do you know how many kids go to Greenwich schools from Port Chester..do you live here? Please enlighten me..

Addazzio also had John Slocum(UVA) and John Wagner(ND) both offensive lineman.

When I think of New Canaan football. I think of a dipwad who championed PP and badmouthed UConn when they finally canned him.

Yeah, not sure Marinelli has many fans.

Jack Cochran - Football consultant, owner of The Program 1 (www.theprogram1.com), has coached college and high school football for over 20 years. During that time his teams have won 8 State Championships at 3 different high schools, coached over 100 All-State Football Players, placed over 60 players in Division 1 Colleges & Universities and has had 7 players in the NFL.

Joe Zone of Channel 3 will always describe Marinelli as a coaching legend. Always.

Here the Florida is looking into Plant High and Armwood, both strong FB teams. They are recruiting from all over... Plant has players 20 miles from the school (Florida's school districts are counties, not towns) and Armwood has players from another county (and they recruited a player from Germany).

Here the schools forgot they are in business to EDUCATE!! That's why we homeschool.

Well in 1994-95, Cochran has Pinnock, Freeney, and a DB I can't remember that all went D1 and 2 went NFL. Pinnock probably had 4 sacks against us in the first half and sat the rest. Still a 50 point beating.

meanwhile, Darien is just obliterating its opponents as well, last two games outscored their opponents 80+-0 in the first half. Fairfield Warde was the victim today. Looks like Thanksgiving day will again be the battle of the best of CT (I think they've played for top ranking each of the last three thanksgivings and then again for the state title two weeks later)

Your sense of time is a bit off. Freeney was only a sophomore in '94-'95, Pinnock a freshman.

1994 - Ansonia 54, Bloomfield 14 (SS)
1995 - Ansonia 7, Bloomfield 0 (S)
1996 - Darien 21, Bloomfield 16 (S) D. Freeney and I. Whittingham (All State)
1997 - Bloomfield 39, Darien 21 (S) D. Freeney, A. Pinnock, and D. Shabazz (All State)
1998 - Bloomfield 40, Ansonia 7 (S) A. Pinnock, J. Lewis, C. Allen, K. DeCordova, D. Grier, D. Shabazz, K. Moore (All State)
1999 - Bloomfield 56, Ansonia 0 (S) J. Lewis, J. Burton, J. Pollard, D. Anderson (All State)

Bloomfield also won Class S titles in 2000 and 2001.

In my opinion, the 1998 Bloomfield team is the best CT high school team I've ever seen. Some will argue the West Haven teams of the late 60's, but that,s before my time.
