Becker says that dedication extends to her school work. This year she got a 5, the highest possible score on the Advanced Placement calculus exam. She also received awards for being the best student in calculus, taught by Becker, physics and creative writing as well as the student most dedicated to excellence in her class.

Thanks for the link. Nice article. Now we know a little more about Molly B. You've got to love a kid with that kind of grit, focus and determination. I'm betting she'll have the fans in Storrs giddy about her by the end of her freshman year. Kinda like we are about Gabby now.

Hey, NVUConnfan, I love your avatar. I'm a big Marx brothers (Groucho, Chico, Zeppo, Gummo and Harpo) fan. An interesting side note, all of their names ended with the letter "o". Their movies were funny if you appreciate their brand of slapstick humor. Not everyone does.

I think Kiah's 4.0 was for her last semester, maybe her last year. I'm not sure of her overall GPA, but I'd guess it was about 3.5. As an underclassmen, she impressed her teammates and coaches when she aced a Statistics exam. Kiah, Maya Moore, Nicole Wolff, Rebecca Lobo, Sue Bird, and others have been great student-athletes. In the pre-Geno era, Leigh Ann Curl was the class valedictorian. (She's now an orthopedic surgeon at Johns Hopkins!) Molly is following in some big footsteps.

The following quote from Kiah suggests she flirted with perfection for 3 years, then got serious in the fall of her senior year!

“It was a great accomplishment,’’ Stokes said. “I worked really hard for it. It’s one thing I’ve been close the past semesters. I figured I’ve got one more year left. I might as well make sure I get it done.

“Honestly, I think this semester I was really interested in my classes because they had a lot to do with my major and kind of what I want to do. So maybe I was more willing to work harder at it. Not saying that I didn’t obviously work hard at school, but it was definitely a goal and I knew that if I put more time into studying rather than just like, `I kind of know what I have to do to get an A-minus.’ So I just kind of really made the effort to try to get an A.’’
