This article is from CT Insider and so is behind a paywall, but I'm hoping you can access it somehow.

It's a long story about the fact that Allison Feaster (Sarah Strong's mother) is a former WNBA teammate and close friend of Dawn Staley, and has a very high opinion of her as a person and as a coach. Somewhat surprisingly, the article doesn't get into why Sarah chose UConn over South Carolina, or what her mother's opinion was about her choice.

I had always thought (based on Boneyard comments and other articles) that Allison was in favor of her daughter going to UConn rather than SC. This article makes me wonder about that. Of course, I assume that it was ultimately Sarah's choice, but this article tends in my mind to dispel the idea that the Mom was quietly lobbying the daughter to choose UConn, and that was influential in Sarah's final decision.

I'm just "VERY" happy that that Sarah "the STRONG" is #21 in
a Huskie jersey. Go UCONN.

Wasn't Sarah another player who always wanted to play for UConn? I thought that I read that here on the BY after she committed.

Thanks for sharing this article with us. I didn't pick up on any vibes about her mom lobbying for UConn or South Carolina. I got the vibe that Ms. Feaster and Mr. Strong supported their daughter's choice no matter what school she picked. Some pretty cool parenting if you ask me.

Sarah is just the UConn type, she's brilliant but lowkey, not really flashy, lets her game speak. She reminds me a lot of Collier. Dawn thinking she would just inherit Sarah because of that relationship with her mother was a recruiting error. SC didn't even make her top 3.

Allison Feaster is from SC, so there are some definite roots there. In fact, Allison grew up about 45 minutes from USC, so there was certainly a possibility that the SC ties may have come into play, in addition to the Charlotte Sting connection. Obviously, it wasn’t a determining factor, and Sarah chose poorly (kidding). Looking forward to the annual UConn game. I like how our “rivalry” is one of respect and not hatred for one another. Good luck in all your games except for today. :)
