I think that ship has sailed. Supposedly Michigan and UCLA have emerged as leaders for Prince.

Good to see Jackson back up in the rankings.

Does anybody know how yesterday's visit went with Ray?

I'm planning on trying to talk with him about it soon. Not sure it'll happen though.

In Borges most recent blog post, Kevin Ollie said he expects the facility to be completely done in 1 1/2to 2 months.

Which is weird because UConn said on twitter it will be done either last week or his week. Wonder what happened.

I doubt we will have space when he finally makes his decision. Rarely does a decommit re-commit, never know though

Is that really our Will Jackson? I thought he plummeted out of the rankings according to some other recruiting service.

Scout and Rivals don't have Jackson in their top 100 or even close to it. He has fallen off the face of the earth with most rankings. 247 on the otherhand has him as having moved up from the 90s to 48 or so. Dramatically different. I tend to put little faith in 247 and feel the others are more accurate. Hope Im wrong.

Quite frankly, with all the top level guards we are involved with now, I would rather Jackson go somewhere else and we get a mix of Adams, Briscoe, Newman, Dorsey, Jones, Brunson etc.

Rivals has Jackson ranked #48 (though they haven't updated their list since March) and Scout has him as the #34 SG and the #33 SG is ranked #100 in their top 100 list so he can't be far off.

Wishing a kid who commits to UConn to go somewhere else is just wrong.

He had a rough spring. But he has been playing at a high level up to this period. Not sure if it is true, but heard he may have had an injury

He was coming back from an injury and it also seemed like his AAU coach was often playing him out of position. The mental and emotional state of a player can have a huge impact on his performance. If the player is struggling with his coach and teammates, it can really impact his performance. I'm not sure if that was in play. He seemed to get very little PT some games, and more in others. That might point to either physical or mental/emotional state of Jackson. Or a third, and most undesirable, is he's not as talented as most thought which is being exposed by the increased level of competition.

KO's track record in spotting talent is solid, so I'm guessing it's some combination of the first two factors I listed above. As for the person who hopes that WJ will look elsewhere, that's not something one should post here. Now granted, most of us want to get players who are capable of playing well at this highest college level and want the most talented who fit our program. But once there's an agreement between both KO and the recruit, I would want our coach and program to display the highest level of integrity and honor that commitment as long as the player wants to be a Husky and his academics are in order.

As for the list of interested recruits, KO has compiled an impressive list. Now getting commitments compared to just interest is a whole different story, though I have a great deal of confidence that KO will begin to close the deal on the recruits he wants. I'm assuming for some of them that play the same position, KO has or at some point will say the first one, (or 2 if he's recruiting more than one at a given position), to commit gets the ship. Like many, I like what I've heard and seen with Adams, but at some point in the process, even if KO feels the same, he's going to tell him along with the other PGs, that whoever says "yes" first, get's the spot.

Although there's nothing like watching our Huskies win, especially when we're the last team standing, I do enjoy the recruiting hunt and bagging talent that fits our program and continues our success. It's great to be a Husky fan, that's for sure!!!

I'm not sure why you put little faith in 247 since 247 was well ahead of the curve over the others when it came to a great many players last time around.

Kelly Oubre, Stanley Johnson, Brandone Francis, Daniel Hamilton, Terry Larrier, Devin Robinson were way way way down the lists on the other services at this time last year, while 247 had lifted them all into the top 30. By the end of the year, most these players were consensus top recruits. 247 was way ahead of everyone in assessments.

I've found that the folks at 247 have done a nice job of evaluating talent. Maybe they confirmed that WJ was still not a 100% and didn't want to drop him in the rankings, though I found it strange that his ranking went up. Maybe they gave him a bump like many of the sites do with recruits who are committed to the elite programs such as UK, Dook, UNC and a handful of others. FWIW, I hate when they do that. I don't care what program a recruit commits to, he should be ranked according to his current and projected level of talent. We've had plenty of discussions about the criteria that those who rank these recruits use. It's often inconsistent, where even the same so called recruiting expert ranks one player high due to what he did during that evaluation period, while not ranking another player as high who performed equally as well if not better who's game might not translate as well to the next level (NBA). I somewhat understand why this takes place. When people look back at a top 100 or 150 and see some players who have excelled in the NBA not ranked high and vise versa, many will pick that top X apart. IMO, they should rank recruits based on a combination of how they performed when evaluated, hopefully multiple times throughout their final two years of HS, and how they think they will play at the high major college level and not take the long term NBA perspective in mind. I really don't give a rats ass about what a recruit does in the NBA...Okay, I do a little bit since having lots of ex-Huskies in the NBA and some playing at a high level helps with recruiting...I care most with how well they develop, perform and contribute while wearing a UConn uniform.

yea, Scout had Stanley Johnson ranked around the 70s not too long before his jump and DeAndre & DHam's AAU coach takes every chance he gets to remind Evan Daniels and Brian Snow(the two lead guys at Scout) about that.

Jerry Meyer takes risks sometimes and looks stupid as a result, but those risks can also make him look smart with his rankings.

hey, we all make mistakes. no worries. we all want the most talented recruits possible. But we also want to make sure the program is held to a higher standard. We're talking about a teenager who's looking for an opportunity to get an education and to develop his basketball skills. As quality kids see the way that KO and UConn conduct themselves many talented ones will want to come and play for UConn.
