New 2017 UConn Commit - Kevin Mensah (Worcester MA)

Kevin Mensah is a 5-9 2oolb RB/DB from Shepard Hill Regional High School in Worcester MA. He has planned on attending St Thomas More School in Oakdale CT this coming year. UConn has been involved with Kevin through both the previous staff and the current staff. He held a preferred walk-on offer from Michigan but decided to head to STM for a PG year.

I beginning to think it's 2017. He reclassed to 2018 when he transferred to St Thomas More but wonder if the Williams move accelerated the time frame.

I have always been puzzled why this kid didn't get more offers. In any event, I always thought he would end up here. Actually, when it was clear this spring we had several extra scholarships, I thought this might play out this way- a late addition to the 2017 class.

Glad to have him, he has a great burst through the hole - I like his chances to succeed.

Quite possibly it's the NE/NY bump - where our HS football talent get downgraded based on geography. That said, coaches watch film. Let's hope we got a steal.
