Wow. . . The Huskers were putting together what I thought was an excellent season and have a really strong foundation. Certainly hope Amy Williams can help the team overcome these distractions down the stretch and in the Big ten tournament.

That's quite an inference made by womenshoopworld...Love was suspended with pay for an undisclosed infraction and whatever that means but to have this social media entity make this kind of statement certainly leads to speculation (and not the good kind!).

I agree the phrasing is horrible. While the timeline of the announcements, as stated is correct, phrasing it in this manner feels like they were looking for clicks instead of reporting.

If it’s not the obvious someone needs to make an announcement pronto to stop the rumors and assumptions

If the events are completely unrelated (eg, he contacted a recruit during a dead period and she is failing her classes, for example), the university could easily say so.

What is "removed from the roster." Did the school terminate her scholarship. i.e. "fire" her?

This could end up biting the school in the butt - hard.

My impression is that she voluntarily left the team.

People are being very careful to say nothing to the press.

I would like to remind people that the rule against harmful speculation, that which could damage reputations, is against the rule on this board, too.

Yes, they are. And one can bet school lawyers are very much reminding them on exactly how to phrase things until matters are "in accord." That said, everything I've seen and/or heard tell me the embers -- no matter how matted -- are pretty intense.

Hope some degree of compartimentalization is possible and the team can move forward on what had been a competitive season.

They played well after their loss to Penn State if memory serves correct. I took that as a positive sign with the BIG10 tourney fast approaching.

The Nebraska AD made a few slightly new comments last night on a radio program. Article says the coach "isn't expected to return."

“I’m really proud of women’s basketball and proud of Amy,” AD Alberts said Thursday during his monthly show on the Huskers Radio Network. "It’s no secret women’s basketball has been through an emotional time and it’s been a challenging time. Unfortunately, these are a (human resources) issue that we really can’t discuss publicly. But I’m proud of the resilience of the women’s basketball program."
