The Big East is a radically different league than when Notre Dame joined nearly 20 years ago and there still could be more changes ahead.

There is the very real possibility if the Big 12 decides to expand to 12 schools, the Big East could lose two more members -- "big names," Brey said -- either to the Big 12 or to the ACC.

You could very easily take out ND from that statement and place any current Big East football member in there. Problem is some of them (us included) don't have any options, unlike ND.

The article states what everyone has known for decades: ND will worry only about ND and everyone else can go scratch; unless of course they can help ND, then they can help ND first, afterwards they can go scratch.

If ND joins another conference, that will be good news for UConn. The minute Notre Dame is finally off the table, then all of the conferences will then scramble to get to 16 teams (what will they be holding out for at that point?). I have faith that UConn will have a landing spot somewhere once the 16 team conferences shake out.

discussions with Notre Dame have been ongoing since 2010 and the newly-formed Champions Bowl between the Big 12 and SEC regular season champions further solidifies the power conferences in college football.

Where is this myth coming from? Why is 16 some magical number? The problem all these conferences will have, particularly the Big 10 and SEC, is that they make so much money already that it wil be hard for any new school to be worth it financially. A true "king" is worth it like Notre Dame or UNC. And one probably you can make some concessions to bring them in, such as bringing partner schools (much like Oklahoma looks out for OSU and Texas for Texas Tech). But the idea that the Big 10 will immediately scramble for 4 more schools if Notre Dame joins elsewhere is laughable.
