Not a big deal since the overall number 1 seed always got placed in the nearest venue anyway.

Agreed. I can't see it mattering much. I could be wrong but I think choosing the venue means you can choose whether you want the Thursday/Saturday games or Friday/Sunday games too. Not sure any program would choose to play further away just for that though.

Would be more interesting if the #1 got to select the #2 team that would be placed in its bracket.

This means Duke will be the first No 1 overall seed with 10 or more losses

Would matter more if you got to pick which region you want to be in for the regional rounds. Kansas would have been able to go to Chicago last year where there's more KU alums then rather than going to Louisville where there's not really a lot of KU fans in the area. Granted Self would have still found a way to lose anyhow...

Dang I was hoping this meant they could literally choose any venue of their choice in the world-so the next time we are a number 1 overall seed we could put like Arkansas Little Rock and Butler in Gampel Pavilion for 2 easy ones.
