1. Last year you had no depth which meant the best players were on the court the vast majority of the time and played higher quality basketball in garbage time. With a deeper bench and several inexperienced freshmen, Geno is resting his starters in the 4th and the newbies are letting other teams close the margin and improve their stats.  It doesn’t affect the outcome but statistically it makes UCONN look worse compared to previous years.  A more representative statistical analysis would be looking at Connecticut’s averages after 3 quarters since 90% of the time the game is over after 3 quarters and in Q4 all that’s undecided is final margin.

2.  You’ve played a loaded schedule to start this year and the cushy schedule is coming.  That’s where UCONN will regularly blitz teams by 40-50.  The defensive numbers will surely improve against lesser competition.  There are a lot of really good teams left on the schedule, but most games will be against poor competition and stats should sky rocket.  Most other top 10 teams are in an opposite scenario where they’ve only played 1-2 competitive games but will be challenged more in conference play.
